LANDCAN'S SUITE OF WEB-BASED TOOLS AND SERVICES BEGINS WITH THE LAND CONSERVATION ASSISTANCE NETWORK (LANDCAN), WWW.LANDCAN.ORG. LANDCAN IS AN ONLINE DIRECTORY OF CONSERVATION INFORMATION AND SERVICES. FROM FEDERAL AND STATE FUNDING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS TO FORESTERS, LAWYERS, AND ESTATE PLANNERS TO ARTICLES FAMILIARIZING LANDOWNERS WITH CONSERVATION OPTIONS, USERS CAN SEARCH THE OVER 55,000 RESOURCES THAT COMPROMISE 80,000 LISTINGS, TEN STATE SITES, (AR, CA, CO, GA, ID, LA, ME, MI, TX & VA) AND THE NEWLY UPDATED HABITATCAN.ORG WEBSITE THAT A THIRD SPECIES WAS ADDED TO.(CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)THE LANDCAN DATABASE, UPDATED IN 2021 ENABLES RESOURCES TO BE SEARCHED BY COUNTY, ZIP CODE, STATE, OR BY A USER'S CHOSEN KEYWORDS. CREATED IN 2007, THE FIRST SITE IN THIS SERIES WAS THE MAINE LAND CONSERVATION ASSISTANCE NETWORK, WWW.MAINELANDCAN.ORG. THE WEBSITE PROVIDES A COMPREHENSIVE MENU OF CONSERVATION SERVICES FOR PRIVATE LANDOWNERS, AND SUPPORTS THOSE SUSTAINABLY MANAGING MAINE'S NATURAL RESOURCES AND OPEN SPACE, LIKE LOCAL FARMERS, FORESTERS, AND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RETAILERS. SINCE THEN, LANDCAN HAS DEVELOPED ADDITIONAL STATE SPECIFIC SITES FOR CALIFORNIA, MISSISSIPPI, ARKANSAS, LOUISIANA, IDAHO, COLORADO, GEORGIA, TEXAS AND OUR NEWLY LAUNCHED STATE SITE FOR VIRGINIA. OUR PLANS INCLUDE ADDING ADDITIONAL STATE SITES.ADDITIONALLY, THE ORGANIZATION HAS CONTINUED TO MAKE PROGRESS ON ITS CONVERSATION COLLABORATION AGREEMENT, WHICH HAS BEEN FUNDED BY GRANTS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOR NATURAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION SERVICES. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, THE ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN WORKING TO BUILD TWO NEW STATE CONSERVATION SITES IN GEORGIA AND VIRGINIA, AS WELL AS ADDING THE MONARCH BUTTERFLY TO THE HABITAT CONSERVATION ASSISTANCE NETWORK. THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN UNDERWAY FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS AND IS ANTICIPATED TO BE COMPLETED BY THE 2ND QUARTER OF 2022.
