THE PURPOSE OF THE SOCIETY SHALL BE TO: A) DEVELOP, PROMOTE, AND AUGMENT UNDERSTANDING AND INTEREST IN THE HISTORY OF THE SOCIETY'S GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF SQUIRREL ISLAND, ME AND THE SURROUNDING AREA, B) STIMULATE AWARENESS AND PRESERVATION OF LOCAL HISTORICAL, CULTURAL AND ARCHITECTURAL ASSETS AND RESOURCES.
