THE GENERAL HENRY KNOX MUSEUM SERVES TO HONOR THE LIFE AND TIMES OF HENRY KNOX AND THE HERITAGE OF MONTPELIER.

THE MUSEUM OFFERS DAILY HISTORIC TOURS FROM MEMORIAL DAY UNTIL INDIGENOUS PEOPLE DAY TO THE PUBLIC. WE HOLD TWO COMMUNITY EVENTS PER YEAR TO HONOR ALL WHO HAVE AND WHO ARE SERVING IN OUR ARMED FORCES. WE ALSO HOST LECTURES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, COLLABORATED WITH HISTORIANS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND AND SHARE THE ROLE OF NATIVE AND BLACK AMERICANS RELATED TO TEH KNOX MUSEUM AND THE SETTLEMENT OF THOMASTON, MAINE POST REVOLUTION. THIS WAS A MAJOR PORT, WITH DIVERSE INHABITANTS, GLOBAL TRADING, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF SHIPPING, LIME MINING, BRICK MAKING AND TRADING - ALL VENTURES IN WHICH HENRY KNOX ENGAGED POST-WAR. OUR NARRATIVES HAVE BEEN UPDATED TO BE MORE HISTORICALLY INCLUSIVE. WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT AND COLLABORATE WITH AREA SCHOOLS TO DELIVER EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND FIELD TRIPS TO PUBLIC, PRIVATE, AND HOMESCHOOLING COMMUNITIES.
THE MUSEUM CONTINUED ITS WORK TO PRESERVE MONTPELIER, A NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES PROPERTY, AS WELL AS THE CONSERVATION OF ITS SIGNIFICANT COLLECTION OF 18TH CENTURY OBJECTS. WE ALSO CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT COLLABORATIONS WITH OTHER NONPROFITS AND AREA BUSINESSES TO ENSURE A HIGHER PROFILE FOR THE MUSEUM'S ROLE IN MAINE TOURISM. WE ATTENDED AND CONTRIBUTED TO PROGRAMS OFFERED BY MAINE ARCHIVES AND MUSEUMS, MAINE TOURISM OFFICE AND THE NEW ENGLAND MUSEUM ASSOCIATION.
OUR SUMMER INTERNS ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR CONTINUED EFFORTS TO EDUCATE ALL WHO ARE INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT GENERAL HENRY KNOX, THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, THE SETTLEMENT OF MAINE, AND OUR MILITARY SERVICES. DURING 2021, WE HAD THREE INTERNS WORKING WITH US, LEARNING THE BASICS OF MUSEUM ADMINISTRATION AND ASSISTING WITH OUR PROGRAMS.
