TO BE A CENTRAL INSTITUTION IN MEMBERS LIVES; ENGAGE MEMBERS, FROM YOUNG WORKERS TO RETIREES, AS ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS IN THEIR OWN UNION; LEAD THE LABOR MOVEMENT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER LABOR AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AT A LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND NATIONAL LEVEL. TO FOSTER A CULTURE OF INCLUSIVENESS, TOLERANCE, AND OWNERSHIPS OF OUR UNION BY MEMBERS; DEVELOP A CULTURE OF RESPECT FOR ALL WORKING PEOPLE, UNIONS, AND FOR PUBLIC SERVICE, WITHIN THE STATE; BARGAIN COLLECTIVELY AND CONTINUOUSLY AS A SINGLE UNION, WITH THE CAPACITY TO RESPOND EFFECTIVELY TO ANY ATTACK ON OUR MEMBERS' RIGHTS, AND TO CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE MEMBERS' LIVES. REPRESENTED MEMBERS IN GRIEVANCES AND ARBITRATIONS; NEGOTIATED NEW CONTRACTS WITH EMPLOYERS; WROTE LEGISLATION FOR AND LOBBIED FOR FAIR WORKING CONDITIONS, PAY, AND BENEFITS FOR MEMBERS. RESPONDED TO REQUESTS FROM WORKERS ASKING THE ORGANIZATION TO REPRESENT THEM (ORGANIZING); MAINTAINED A DATABASE OF MEMBERS AND OTHER SYSTEMS TO SUPPORT THE ACTIVITIES OF THE ORGANIZATION; OFFERED TRAINING TO MEMBERS TO HELP THEM BE LEADERS AND STEWARDS IN THEIR WORKSITES.
