AFFILIATE SERVICES PROVIDE TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TO MEMBERS THROUGH LOCAL UNITS ACROSS THE STATE. SERVICES INCLUDE RECRUITING, COORDINATION OF ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES, AND ASSISTING IN NEGOTIATION ACTIVITIES.
GOVERNANCE TO ALL LEVELS OF COMMITTEES, DIRECTORS, AND OTHER LEADERS THROUGH TRAINING, MEETINGS, AND SEMINARS TO SUPPORT THE ANNUAL REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY.
TO PUBLISH MAINE EDUCATOR AND NEWSLETTER, MEMBERSHIP MATERIALS, AND EXTERNAL NEWS MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS.
TO ASSIST MEMBERS IN THE APPROPRIATE CONTRACTS OF LEGAL SERVICES, MAINTAIN IN-HOUSE LEGAL SERVICES, AND CONSULT WITH STAFF AND AFFILIATES ON LEGAL ISSUES AND EMPLOYER/EMPLOYEE RELATIONS.COLLECTIVE BARGAINING & RESEARCH: MEA'S COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT PROVIDES MEMBERS WITH THE MOST UP-TO-DATE ANALYSIS OF BARGAINING TRENDS AND SUPPORTS THEM IN THEIR WORK TO BARGAIN CONTRACTS AT THE LOCAL LEVEL AND BEYOND. IN ADDITION, THROUGH MEA'S EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, THE ASSOCIATION IS ABLE TO PROVIDE MEMBERS WITH A COMPLETE UPDATED SALARY DATABASE, HEALTH INSURANCE COST-ANALYSIS DATABASE, AND CONTRACT DATABASE TO ALLOW YOU TO UNDERSTAND HOW YOUR PAY AND INSURANCE COSTS STACK UP AGAINST OTHERS IN THE AREA.GOVERNMENT RELATIONS: OUR LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM LOBBIES THE MAINE LEGISLATURE AND CONGRESS FOR SCHOOL FUNDING, EDUCATION LAWS THAT MAKE SENSE, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS THAT MEET THE NEEDS OF THE PROFESSION. MEA LEADERSHIP AND STAFF ARE PRESENT AT THE STATE HOUSE AND BEYOND ENSURING LAWMAKERS UNDERSTAND THE IMPACT OF PROPOSED POLICIES ON THE PROFESSION AND ON THE LIVES OF MAINE STUDENTS.TRAINING & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: THE MEA ADVOCATES FOR ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INCREASED COLLABORATION TIME SO YOU CAN IMPROVE YOUR PRACTICE. AS A MEMBER, YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE BEST TRAINING ON A RANGE OF ISSUES FROM TEACHER LEADERSHIP TO BULLY PREVENTION.
