THE MISSION OF THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY IS TO SERVE VETERANS, THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS ON THE NATIONAL AND LOCAL LEVELS FOCUSING ON THREE MAJOR AREAS; VETERANS, YOUNG PEOPLE AND THE COMMUNITY.

PROVIDE POST AND BUILDING FOR AMERICAN LEGION FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES. SUPPORT VETERANS ORGANIZATIONS AND CHARITABLE COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES.

PROVIDE AID TO VETERANS AND PROVIDE THE POST BUILDINGS AS A SOCIAL GATHERING PLACE FOR VETERANS.POST 290 ALSO PROVIDES A SPORTS COMPLEX FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS. POST 290 SPONSORS MANY PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. PATRIOTISM IS PROMOTED THROUGH THE DISTRIBUTION OF AMERICAN FLAGS TO SCHOOLS, CEMETARIES, ETC.
