FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR READING IS FUNDAMENTAL HONOLULU DISTRIBUTED 14,734 NEW CHILDREN'S BOOKS TO 4,564 UNDER SERVED PRE-K TO 3RD GRADE STUDENTS AND 780 NEW BOOKS FOR 260 CLASSROOM LIBRARIES FOR A TOTAL OF 15,514 NEW BOOKS SERVICING A TOTAL NUMBER OF 18 TITLE I PUBLIC SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE CITY & COUNTY OF HONOLULU. EACH STUDENT CHOOSES NEW BOOKS TO TAKE HOME AND KEEP WITHOUT ADULT INTERFERENCE WHICH STUDIES SHOW HELP PROMOTE THE ORGANIZATION'S GOAL OF INSTILLING A LIFELONG LOVE OF READING AND PROMOTING LITERACY THROUGH BOOK OWNERSHIP AND CHOICE.
