THE ORGANIZATION WAS ORIGINALLY FOUNDED IN 1991 AS THE UNITED STATES MEXICO FOUNDATION FOR SCIENCE, AND LATER IN 1993 ADOPTED THE NAME THE GEORGE E. BROWN UNITED STATES/MEXICO FOUNDATION FOR SCIENCE AS MANDATED UNDER PUBLIC LAW 106-74, SECTION 423.THE FUNDACION MEXICO ESTADOS UNIDOS PARA LA CIENCIA, A.C. ("FUMEC") IS A MEXICAN ASSOCIACION CIVIL, OR AN EQUIVALENT OF A NON-PROFIT IN THE UNITED STATES, CREATED UNDER THE MEXICAN LAWS THROUGH A LEGAL CORPORATE DEED NUMBER 25510 IN 1993.
