FIESTA EDUCATIVA'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR LATINO ADULTS AND CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS WHO FACE THE CHALLENGE OF GUIDING THEM THROUGH LIFE.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
COMMUNITY PARENT RESOURCE CENTER (CPRC) THIS PROGRAM CONDUCTS COMMUNITY OUTREACH, DISSEMINATES INFORMATION AND PROVIDES TRAINING TO LATINO AND CHINESE FAMILIES WHO HAVE CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.
FIESTAS FAMILIARES THIS IS A HOME-BASED TRAINING PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS WHO HAVE CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES. IT FACILITATES SUPPORT GROUPS LED BY HIGHLY TRAINED CAREGIVERS AND PROFESSIONALS. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, HOME-BASED TRAINING WAS REPLACED WITH VIRTUAL SESSIONS. APPROXIMATELY 1,000 FAMILIES PARTICIPATED IN THESE VIRTUAL SESSIONS FROM THE COUNTIES OF LOS ANGELES, RIVERSIDE, AND SAN BERNARDINO.
ANNUAL AND REGIONAL CONFERENCES HISTORICALLY,THESE CONFERENCES WERE LIVE AND SOME VIRTUAL SESSIONS HELD IN LOS ANGELES, SAN BERNARDINO, AND RIVERSIDE AREAS WITH ATTENDANCE APPROXIMATING 250 TO 300 PEOPLE AT EACH EVENT. ACTIVITIES INCLUDED VARIOUS WORKSHOPS IN COPYING WITH DISABILITIES. HOWEVER, DUE TO THE CONTINUED IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE ORGANIZATION CANCELLED ALL IN-PERSON CONFERENCES.
VENTANILLAS DE SALUD (WINDOWS OF HEALTH AND FELLOWSHIP) THIS PROGRAM PROMOTES HEALTHCARE EDUCATION TO INDIVIDUALS OF MEXICAN ORIGIN AND THEIR FAMILIES. COUNSELORS ASSIST PARTICIPANTS IN ENROLLING IN INSURANCE PROGRAMS FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING IN-HOME CONSELING. OTHER PROGRAMS SIMONS FOUNDATIONS POWERING AUTISM RESEARCH FOR KNOWLEDGE (SPARK). THIS IS A RESEACH AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP PROJECT INVOLVING THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA (UCLA), FIESTA EDUCATIVA, OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS WHO AGREE TO BECOME PARTICIPATING MEMBERS. SPARKS'S GOAL IS TO RECRUIT, ENGAGE, AND RETAIN A COMMUNITY OF AT LEAST 50,000 INDIVIDUALS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD) AND THEIR FAMILIES TO IDENTIFY ITS CAUSES. AUTISM INTERVENTION RESERCH NETWORK ON BEHAVIOR AIR-B, MIND THE GAP THIS SERVICE IS ANOTHER PARNERSHIP WITH THE UCLA COMMUNITY TO ENHANCE SERVICES FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD). IT HELPS SUPPORT THE EXPERIENCE AND TREATMENT OF CHILDREN WITH ASD AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THE UNDERSTANDING. THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED SUPLEMENTAL FUNDING TO FINANCE SOME OF THESE EXISTING PROGRAMS THROUGH THE PPP(PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM) AND THE LOCAL INITIATIVES SUPORT CORPORATION (LISC).
