THE JOSEPHINE KERNES MEMORIAL POOL (THE ORGANIZATION) PROVIDES A WARM WATER ENVIRONMENT WITH INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION IN SWIMMIMG AND THERAPEUTIC AQUATIC EXERCISE FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. NORMAL ENROLLMENT IS 100 CLIENTS RANGING IN ALL AGES AND ABILITIES. FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT EXERCISE IN TYPICAL WAYS, PARTICIPATION IN THESE WARM WATER PROGRAMS PROVIDES A MEANS TO GAIN HEALTH, STRENGTH AND MOBILITY WHILE LESSENING PAIN. THE ORGANIZATION IS SUPPORTED PRIMARILY THROUGH DONOR CONTRIBUTIONS, GRANTS AND CLIENT FEES.


AQUATIC PROGRAMS WERE CLOSED ON MARCH 15, 2020 DUE TO COVID-19 MANDATES. THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO CLIENTS THROUGH WELLNESS CALLS AND REFERRALS TO ESSENTIAL SERVICES SUCH AS FOOD, HOUSING AND HEALTH CARE. THE JOSEPHINE KERNES MEMORIAL POOL IS MAINTAINED IN FULL OPERATIONAL ORDER TO PROTECT FACILITY AND POOL FUNCTIONS. COVID-19 MITIGATION PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED TO PROTECT EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS AS PROGRAMS RESUME.
