WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, BENTON HABITAT HAS BUILT 39 HOMES. TO DATE, OVER 224 PEOPLE LIVE IN BENTON HABITAT HOMES THROUGHOUT CORVALLIS, PHILOMATH AND ALSEA. THIS NUMBER INCLUDES 148 CHILDREN. FAMILIES WHO WORK WITH HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HELP BUILD THEIR OWN HOMES ALONGSIDE VOLUNTEERS AND PAY AN AFFORDABLE MORTGAGE. FAMILIES ALSO ATTEND FINANCIAL EDUCATION CLASSES TO PREPARE THEM FOR LONG-TERM SUCCESS.
BENTON HABITAT ALSO OPERATES THE RESTORE WHICH CONTAINS ROUGHLY 22,000 SQUARE FEET OF USED AND EXCESS (NEW) BUILDING SUPPLIES, TOOLS, FURNITURE, APPLIANCES AND FIXTURES. THE RESTORE RETAIL SITE AND INTAKE CENTER ALSO HOSTS AN ELABORATE RECYCLING AND SORTING OPERATION. ALONG WITH RESTORE'S INVENTORY, THIS ROBUST PROGRAM HELPS DIVERT APPROXIMATELY 700 TONS ANNUALLY FROM THE LANDFILL. AS PART OF THIS OPERATION THE RESTORE ALSO MANAGES AN ECYCLE FACILITY AND A PAINT-CARE RECOVERY SYSTEM.
HOME REPAIR INITIATIVE: PROVIDES INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR CRITICAL HOME REPAIRS FOR EXISTING LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS. SINCE THE PROGRAM'S INCEPTION IN 2013, BENTON HABITAT HAS COMPLETED OVER 90 REPAIRS. THIS PROGRAM IS ESPECIALLY GEARED TOWARDS ELDERLY, DISABLED AND VETERAN NEIGHBORS.
