HEAD START PROGRAM - PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT FOR DISADVANTAGED PRESCHOOL CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. CREATES A LEARNING COMMUNITY WHERE PARENT INVOLVEMENT AND EDUCATION ARE CORNERSTONES THAT ARE VITAL TO ASSISTING EACH CHILD IN DEVELOPING THEIR POTENTIAL, EMPOWERING PARENTS IN THEIR ROLES.
EARLY HEAD START PROGRAM -PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT FOR LOW INCOME AND DISADVANTAGED PRESCHOOL CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE PROGRAM CREATES A LEARNING COMMUNITY WHERE PARENT INVOLVEMENT AND EDUCATION ARE CORNERSTONES THAT ARE VITAL TO ASSISTING EACH CHILD IN DEVELOPING THEIR POTENTIAL AND TO EMPOWER PARENTS IN THEIR ROLES AS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND PRIMARY TEACHERS, CAREGIVERS, AND ROLE MODELS OF THEIR CHILDREN.
MATERNAL INFANT EARLY CHILDHOOD HOME VISITING PROGRAM (MIECHV) - PROGRAM EXPANDS EVIDENCE BASED HOME VISITING MODELS, AND BUILD STATEWIDE HOME VISITING SYSTEM INFRASTRUCTURE. EARLY HEAD START IS ONE OF THE EVIDENCE BASED HOME VISITING MODELS. THE TARGET POPULATION OF MIECHV EARLY HEAD START IS PREGNANT WOMEN AND CHILDREN UNDER 12 MONTHS. THE GOALS OF MIECHV SERVICES ARE: IMPROVED MATERNAL AND NEWBORN HEALTH, PREVENTION OF CHILD INJURIES, CHILD ABUSE, NEGLECT, OR MALTREATMENT AND REDUCTION OF EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT VISITS, IMPROVEMENTS IN FAMILY ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY, AND IMPROVEMENTS IN THE COORDINATION AND REFERRALS FOR OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND SUPPORTS.
