TO CARRY OUT THE CHARITABLE, SCIENTIFIC, AND EDUCATIONAL MISSION THE PORTLAND BUSINESS ALLIANCE.

NIKE SCHOOL INNOVATION FUND WAS ESTABLISHED AS A FIVE-YEAR, $9 MILLION COMMITMENT TO HELP PORTLAND, HILLSBORO AND BEAVERTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS. THE INNOVATION FUND SUPPORTS INNOVATION IN SCHOOLS, TARGETED TOWARD THE DELIVERY OF QUALITY EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT. PORTLAND, BEAVERTON AND HILLSBORO SCHOOL DISTRICTS EACH RECEIVED GRANTS TO FACILITATE THE EDUCATION OF EARLY LEARNERS, BY CREATING SUMMER PROGRAMS TO ASSIST KINDERGARTENERS GETTING READY FOR FIRST GRADE. PORTLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS ALSO RECEIVED A GRANT TO FUND A LEADERSHIP ACADEMY FOR TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS AND TO EXPERIMENT WITH THE USE OF BUSINESS MANAGERS IN ITS HIGH SCHOOLS. IN ALL CASES THE USE OF INNOVATIVE METHODS WAS ENCOURAGED. THE NIKE SCHOOL INNOVATION FUND CONTINUED TO BUILD ON THE EFFORT OF NIKE AND ITS EMPLOYEES WHO ARE ENGAGED AND SUPPORTIVE OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS. THE FUNDS WERE NOT ALL EXPENDED IN 5 YEARS, SO THE PROGRAM WAS EXTENDED TO ALLOW MORE TIME TO EXPEND THE FUNDS. NEXT YEAR IS EXPECTED TO BE THE FINAL YEAR OF THE FUND.
PARTNERS IN DIVERSITY (PID) IS AN ORGANIZATION OPERATING UNDER THE CHARITABLE TRUST OF THE PORTLAND BUSINESS ALLIANCE. WE WORK WITH COMPANIES TO HELP RECRUIT AND RETAIN PROFESSIONALS OF COLOR TO THE PORTLAND REGION. PID ACCOMPLISHES THIS GOAL THROUGH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR PRACTITIONERS AND CEOS, JOB POSTINGS AND DISSEMINATION, A RENOWNED AND ROBUST QUARTERLY NETWORKING EVENT, AND PROMOTIONAL TOURS TO HELP PROFESSIONALS BECOME AWARE OF ALL THAT PORTLAND HAS TO OFFER.
CARES ACT GRANTS: EAST MULTNOMAH COUNTY, SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS - AT THE REQUEST OF MULTNOMAH COUNTY, THE PORTLAND BUSINESS ALLIANCE CHARITABLE INSTITUTE IS SETTING UP AN EAST MULTNOMAH COUNTY SMALL BUSINESS RELIEF FUND TO DISTRIBUTE APPROXIMATELY $1,000,000 OF CARES ACT GRANTS TO THE MOST-IMPACTED SMALL BUSINESSES IN EAST MULTNOMAH COUNTY. BUSINESSES WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR GRANTS UP TO $2500 PER BUSINESS. QUALIFYING BUSINESSES MUST BE LOCATED IN THE CITIES OF FAIRVIEW, GRESHAM, TROUTDALE AND WOOD VILLAGE, AS WELL AS IN SURROUNDING AREAS OF UNINCORPORATED EAST MULTNOMAH COUNTY.
STUDIES (VALUE OF JOBS) AND OTHER PROGRAMS: THE INSTITUTE PARTNERS WITH VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING STATEWIDE BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONS TO CONDUCT ECONOMIC STUDIES, RAISE AWARENESS AND EDUCATE THE REGION ABOUT THE VALUE OF JOBS TO THE OVERALL HEALTH OF THE COMMUNITY.
