CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES: LINES FOR LIFE OPERATES 24-HOUR CRISIS LINES OFFERING IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE TO HELP PEOPLE OVERCOME SUBSTANCE ABUSE & PREVENT SUICIDE. CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES INCLUDE HELPING PEOPLE UNDERSTAND HOW TO ASSESS WHETHER OR NOT A LOVED ONE IS AT RISK FOR SUICIDE OR HOW TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO GET TREATMENT FOR ADDICTION. THE CRISIS LINES TOOK OVER 162,000 CALLS, TEXTS AND CHATS IN FY 2021. SPECIFICALLY, THESE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED: LIFELINE IS A 24-HOUR CRISIS LINE PROVIDING FREE AND CONFIDENTIAL SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE IN DISTRESS. CONTUIED ON SCHEDULE 0.THE YOUTHLINE CONNECTS YOUNG PEOPLE WITH TRAINED TEEN VOLUNTEERS SUPERVISED BY ADULTS; THE OREGON BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SUPPORT LINE PROVIDES IMMEDIATE, NO-COST BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SCREENING AND CAN HELP A CALLER FIND A MENTAL HEALTH OR SUBSTANCE USE PROVIDER NEARBY. RACIAL EQUITY SUPPORT LINE PROVIDES EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND RESOURCE REFERRAL TO THOSE EXPERIENCING THE IMPACTS OF TREATMENT RACIST VIOLENCE, MICROAGGRESSIONS, RACIAL DISCRIMINATION, AND CROSS-CULTURAL ISSUES. ALCOHOL & DRUG HELPLINE ASSISTS THOSE STRUGGLING WITH SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND CAN PROVIDE REFERRALS TO LOCAL RESOURCES FOR PEER SUPPORT AND TREATMENT. MILITARY HELPLINE OFFERS HELP AND HOPE TO SERVICE MEMBERS, VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES. SENIOR LONELINESS LINE SUPPORTS SENIORS WHO ARE FEELING LONELY, HAVING DIFFICULTY CONNECTING, OR WHO JUST WANT TO TALK TO SOMEONE WHO CARES.
PREVENTION AND EDUCATION: LINES FOR LIFE OFFERS EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS TO PROMOTE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS IN COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT OREGON. CONFERENCES AND TRAINING OFFERINGS ARE TAUGHT BY CERTIFIED PROFESSIONALS AND EQUIP SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES TO IDENTIFY AND ASSIST PEOPLE AT RISK OF SUICIDE AND TO RESPOND TO SIGNS OF MENTAL ILLNESS AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE. OUR HELPERS HELPING HELPERS PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS REACHING OVER 1,000 PARTICIPANTS AND THE SCHOOL SUICIDE PREVENTION AND WELLNESS PROGRAM SUPPORTED OVER 125 OREGON SCHOOL DISTRICTS. WITH FUNDING FROM THE OREGON HEALTH AUTHORITY AND OTHER DONORS, LINES FOR LIFE PRODUCES OREGON'S STATEWIDE SUICIDE PREVENTION AND OREGON PAIN AND ADDICTION TREATMENT (OPAT) CONFERENCES.
