TO PROVIDE RESOURCES TO ENHANCE AND SUPPORT QUALITY HEALTH CARE FOR BARTLETT REGIONAL HOSPITAL AND TO CARRY ON EDUCATIONAL, LITERARY, SCIENTIFIC AND CHARITABLE PURPOSES, BOTH DIRECTLY AND BY THE APPLICATION OF ASSETS TO THE USE OF BARTLETT REGIONAL HOSPITAL.

AWARENESS AND FUNDRAISING FOR NEEDED MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY AND IMPROVED HEALTH CARE: THE FOUNDATION FOSTERS AND SUPPORTS QUALITY HEALTH CARE FOR RESIDENTS SERVED BY BARTLETT REGIONAL HOSPITAL. THE ONE CRUCIAL GOAL OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR NEEDED MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY AND IMPROVED HEALTH CARE. BARTLETT REGIONAL HOSPITAL IS A COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OWNED BY THE CITY AND BOROUGH OF JUNEAU. THROUGH OUR FUNDRAISING EFFORTS WE FUND MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES THAT MIGHT NOT OTHERWISE BE AVAILABLE TO BARTLETT REGIONAL HOSPITAL. DURING THIS REPORTING PERIOD, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED FUNDING FOR VARIOUS STAFF TRAINING PROGRAMS: OPERATING ROOM EGUIDELINES AND SYNTEGRITY DOCUMENTATION SOFTWARE; BEHAVIORAL HEALTH EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING STAFF TRAINING; PICC LINE AND IV INSERTION TRAINING; EMPLOYEE BURNOUT PREVENTION TRAINING. FUNDING WAS ALSO PROVIDED FOR HEALTH MATTERS DIABETIS PREVENTION EDUCATION, AND FOR REPLACING 8 MATRESSES AT BARTLETT HOUSE LODGING FACILITY FOR OUT-OF-TOWN PATIENTS.
PROMOTE HEALTH EDUCATION AND AWARENESS: WHEN ESTABLISHED IN 1992, ONE OF THE GOALS OF THE FOUNDATION WAS TO PROMOTE MEDICAL STUDY, RESEARCH, AND THE CONTINUING EDUCATION OF MEDICAL AND HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS AND STAFF LOCATED IN JUNEAU AND ITS SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. THROUGH THE EDELMAN HEALTH SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP AND PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER LOCAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THE FOUNDATION IS ABLE TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND AWARENESS RELATED TO HEALTH MATTERS AND TO PROMOTE MEDICAL STUDIES IN SOUTHEAST ALASKA. DURING THIS REPORTING PERIOD, THE FOUNDATION AWARDED TWELVE HEALTH SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIPS. THROUGH THE DR. BOB URATA HOSPICE EDUCATION FUND AND PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FOUNDATION FOR END OF LIFE CARE, THE BARTLETT REGIONAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION IS ABLE TO SUPPORT HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN JUNEAU WHO SEEK HOSPICE FOCUSED EDUCATION AND TRAINING.
