2022 CONTINUED TO BE CHALLENGING DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.THE WASHINGTON FEDERATION FOCUSED ON PROVIDING GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES TO ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP THEM NAVIGATE THROUGH THE CHANGING LANDSCAPES OF ANIMAL CARE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. IN 2022 THE FEDERATION AWARDED GRANTS TOTALING $54,842 FUNDING MORE THAN 1,500 PET SPAY OR NEUTER SURGERIES. GRANTS ARE MADE POSSIBLE BY THE SPAY~NEUTER~ADOPT SPECIALTY LICENSE PLATES WHICH LAUNCHED IN 2007. SINCE THEN WE HAVE AWARDED OVER $924,000 IN GRANTS TO OUR MEMBER AGENCIES ENABLING MORE THAN 24,900 SPAY AND NEUTER SURGERIES IN WASHINGTON STATE. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC THE WASHINGTON FEDERATION WAS NOT ABLE TO OFFER TRAININGS IN-PERSON.WE ARE PLEASED THAT WE HAVE CONTINUED TO OFFER OUR VIRTUAL EUTHANASIA BY INJECTION CLASSES. THE FEDERATION'S LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITY DURING THE 2022 SESSION INVOLVED MONITORING AND SUPPORTING SEVERAL BILLS. THIS INCLUDED SUPPORT OF BILLS TO STRENGTHEN ANIMAL CRUELTY LAWS IN OUR STATE AND PROHIBITING PET STORES FROM SELLING DOGS AND CATS SOURCED FROM PUPPY MILLS.
