THE 2022 ACVO ANNUAL CONFERENCE WAS ATTENDED BY OVER 900 ATTENDEES. IN 2022 THE ACVO ROLLED OUT A NEW ON-DEMAND SYSTEM FOR THE CONFERENCE WHICH WAS USED BY OVER 100 ADDITIONAL ATTENDEES. MEMBERS OF THE ACVO WERE SUPPLIED ON-LINE ACCESS TO ALL PRESENTATIONS FOR 3 MONTHS POST-CONFERENCE.
PUBLISH AND OWN THE JOURNAL OF VETERINARY OPHTHALMOLOGY A PREMIER, PEER-REVIEWED, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL WHICH PUBLISHES PAPERS RELATED TO VETERINARY OPHTHALMOLOGY.
IN 2022 THE ACVO ONCE AGAIN HELD A SERVICE DOG DAY. SINCE THE YEAR 2008 (OTHER THAN DURING 2020 AND 2021 WHEN IT WAS CANCELED DUE TO COVID-19)THE ACVO WITH THE HELP OF ITS SPONSORS, HAS HOSTED THE ACVO/EPICUR NATIONAL SERVICE DOG EYE EXAM EVENT. THE 2022 EVENT INVOLVED APPROXIMATELY 280 OF OUR VETERINARY OPHTHALMOLOGIST DIPLOMATES IN THE US, CANADA AND PUERTO RICO WHO PROVIDED FREE SCREENING EYE EXAMS TO QUALIFIED SERVICE ANIMALS.PARTICIPATION OF OUR MEMBERS IS COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY AND THEY DO NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION FOR THEIR TIME OR EXPENSES. SINCE 2008 OUR OPHTHALMOLOGISTS HAVE DONATED OVER 75,000 EXAMS! WE ESTIMATE THAT SERVICES WORTH OVER $3,800,000 HAVE BEEN DONATED TO THE SERVICE ANIMAL COMMUNITY AS PART OF THIS EVENT SINCE ITS INCEPTION.
