ELIZABETH GREGORY HOME (EGH) SERVES SINGLE HOMELESS WOMEN IN THE GREATER SEATTLE AREA BY PROVIDING TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, A DAY CENTER AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES. EGH PROVIDES A WELCOMING AND RESPECTFUL REFUGE WHERE HOMELESS AND AT-RISK WOMEN HAVE ACCESS TO COMPASSIONATE CARE.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

EGH'S DAY CENTER SERVES OUR COMMUNITY AS A DROP-IN DAY SHELTER THAT PROVIDES A SAFE SPACE FOR LOW-INCOME, HOMELESS, AT-RISK WOMEN TO RECEIVE SUPPORT AND ACCESS TO BASIC SERVICES, INCLUDING CLEAN CLOTHES, FOOD, HYGIENE, INTERNET COMMUNICATION, PHONE, MAIL SERVICE, AND REFERRALS TO HOUSING. EGH ALSO ASSISTS WOMEN BY OFFERING INDIVIDUAL EVALUATION, EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, HOUSING AND EMPLOYMENT SEARCH SUPPORT, AND CARE MANAGEMENT. IN 2021, OUR DAY CENTER SERVED 459 WOMEN FOR A TOTAL OF 8131 VISITS, PROVIDED 12,846 MEALS AND ASSISTED 103 WOMEN WITH ACCESSING HOUSING.

EGH'S TRANSITIONAL HOUSE AFFORDS EIGHT SINGLE, HOMELESS ADULT WOMEN A PLACE TO LIVE FOR UP TO TWO YEARS. THIS ENVIRONMENT PREPARES WOMEN TO BE SELF-SUSTAINING, INDEPENDENT, AND HAVE SAFE LIVES. EGH ASPIRES TO ENSURE THAT 100 PERCENT OF THE WOMEN WHO LEAVE THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSE FOR PERMANENT HOUSING WILL NEVER BE HOMELESS AGAIN. IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL, EGH OFFERS LIFE SKILLS TRAINING IN FOUR CRITICAL AREAS: ATTAINING PERMANENT HOUSING, BUILDING FINANCIAL STABILITY, MAINTAINING SOCIAL CONNECTIONS, AND DEVELOPING INTERPERSONAL SKILLS. IN ADDITION TO EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, RESIDENTS ALSO GAIN ESSENTIAL PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE THROUGH VOLUNTEERING OR EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
