HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL CONCERT AND JAZZ BANDS WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN A FULL SCHEDULE OF COMPETITIONS AND PERFORMANCES WITH THE PERFORMING ARTS BOOSTERS COVERING ALL ENTRY FEES AND SUPPORTING TRAVEL EXPENSES AT 1/2 COST. ACTIVITIES INCLUDED THE CLARK COLLEGE JAZZ FESTIVAL WHERE THE HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND PLACED FIRST IN THEIR DIVISION, THE BELLEVUE JAZZ FESTIVAL, VANCOUVER BC MUSIC FESTIVAL, MUSIC IN THE PARKS, AND PLAYING FOR THE LEAVENWORTH BUSINESS AND TOURIST COMMUNITY. SEVERAL ADDITIONAL FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED (PARKING FOR A MAJOR LOCAL MUSIC EVENT AND COFFEE SALES) AND DEPLETED FUND BALANCES FROM 2022/2023 HAVE BEEN REPLACED. ADEQUATE BALANCES ARE NOW ON HAND TO SUPPORT A MAJOR EVENT, PURCHASE NEW INSTRUMENTS AND POTENTIALLY HELP SUPPORT MUSIC EDUCATION THAT HAS BEEN REDUCED FOR THE 2024/2025 SCHOOL YEAR. MORE THAN 100 STUDENTS ARE DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY THE EFFORTS OF THE SOUTH WHIDBEY SCHOOLS PERFORMING ARTS BOOSTERS AND THE SOUTH WHIDBEY ISLAND COMMUNITY GREATLY BENEFITS THROUGH THE MUSICAL PERFORMANCES FROM THE TALENTED YOUTH. TWO $500 SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED FOR THE 2023/2024 SCHOOL YEAR.
