BY COMING TOGETHER, PROVIDENCE ST. JOSEPH HEALTH SEEKS TO BETTER SERVE ITS COMMUNITIES THROUGH GREATER PATIENT AFFORDABILITY, OUTSTANDING CLINICAL CARE, IMPROVEMENTS TO THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE AND INTRODUCTION OF NEW SERVICES WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED MOST. TOGETHER, OUR CAREGIVERS SERVE IN 50 HOSPITALS, 829 CLINICS ACROSS ALASKA, CALIFORNIA, MONTANA, NEW MEXICO, OREGON, TEXAS AND WASHINGTON.THE FOUNDERS OF BOTH ORGANIZATIONS WERE COURAGEOUS WOMEN AHEAD OF THEIR TIME. JOSEPH LANDED ON THE RUGGED SHORES OF EUREKA, CALIFORNIA TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND HEALTH CARE. THEY LATER ESTABLISHED ROOTS IN ORANGE, CALIFORNIA, AND EXPANDED TO SERVE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND TEXAS. THE HEALTH SYSTEM ESTABLISHED MANY KEY PARTNERSHIPS, INCLUDING A MERGER BETWEEN LUBBOCK METHODIST HOSPITAL SYSTEM AND ST. MARY HOSPITAL TO FORM COVENANT HEALTH IN LUBBOCK TEXAS. RECENTLY, AN AFFILIATION WAS ESTABLISHED WITH HOAG HEALTH TO INCREASE ACCESS TO SERVICES IN ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA.14 SUPPORT GROUPS SERVED 1418 INDIVIDUALS: MS, POST POLIO, TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY, CHRONIC PAIN, CAREGIVERS, STROKE, TWO ALZHEIMER'S/DEMENTIA CAREGIVER GROUPS, PARKINSON'S, SPINAL DISORDERS, ALS, CAREGIVERS FOR ALZHEIMER'S/DEMENTIA (FOR MEN ONLY), & ART EXPRESSIONS.
RESOURCE LENDING LIBRARY-KNRC'S RESOURCE LENDING LIBRARY HAS OVER 3,000 TITLES ON NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS, CAREGIVING, AND HEALTH & WELLNESS AND RELATED TOPICS. THE LIBRARY COLLECTION IS AUTOMATED AND ACCESSIBLE VIA THE KNRC WEBSITE. WE PROVIDE CLIENTS WITH FREE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS SUCH AS PAMPHLETS AND BOOKLETS. THERE ARE 2,355 LIBRARY PATRONS IN THE SYSTEM. 1,682 LIBRARY MATERIALS CIRCULATED IN 2017.
NEWSLETTER-KNRC'S NEWSLETTER, THE NEUROTRANSMITTER, WAS DISTRIBUTED TO MORE THAN 7274 READERS. ARTICLE TOPICS INCLUDED: PARKINSON'S, MINDFULNESS, APHASIA, POST-POLIO, SENSORY INTEGRATION, WELLNESS, METHYLATION, AND FALL PREVENTION.
