THE FOOD CHAIN WORKERS ALLIANCE IS A COALITION OF WORKER-BASED ORGANIZATIONS WHOSE MEMBERS PLANT, HARVEST, PROCESS, PACK, TRANSPORT, PREPARE, SERVE, AND SELL FOOD, ORGANIZING TO IMPROVE WAGES AND WORKING CONDITIONS FOR ALL WORKERS ALONG THE FOOD CHAIN. THE ALLIANCE WORKS TOGETHER TO BUILD A MORE SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEM THAT RESPECTS WORKERS' RIGHTS, BASED ON THE PRINCIPLES OF SOCIAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND RACIAL JUSTICE, IN WHICH EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO HEALTHY AND AFFORDABLE FOOD.

GROWTH & LEARNING: IN THIS PROGRAM AREA WE ORGANIZE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS AND AN ANNUAL SUMMIT FOR FOOD WORKERS. IN 2021, OUR TRAININGS WERE PROVIDED VIRTUALLY AND INCLUDED TWO WORKER LEADER COHORTS AND A POPULAR EDUCATION SERIES. WE PROVIDED TRAININGS TO 192 PEOPLE IN 2021.
MOVEMENT-BUILDING: WE SUPPORTED ONGOING WORK WITH THE HEAL (HEALTH ENVIRONMENT AGRICULTURE LABOR) FOOD ALLIANCE WHICH BRINGS TOGETHER ORGANIZATIONS FOCUSED ON DIFFERENT ISSUES RELATED TO IMPROVING THE FOOD SYSTEM. WE ALSO STRENGTHENED EXISTING RELATIONSHIPS AND BUILT NEW PARTNERSHIPS WITH A DIVERSE GROUP OF ALLIANCES AND NETWORKS. WE LAUNCHED A FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM FOR MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS.
CAMPAIGNS AND MESSAGING: WE PROVIDED SOCIAL MEDIA AND PUBLIC EDUCATION IN SUPPORT OF OUR MEMBERS' CAMPAIGNS AND IN SUPPORT OF CAMPAIGNS FOR THE GOOD FOOD PURCHASING PROGRAM. WE SUPPORTED RE-GRANTING TO MEMBERS FOR LANGUAGE JUSTICE NEEDS. WE ALSO INCREASED OUR CAPACITY TO PROVIDE SPANISH INTERPRETATION FOR ALL TRAININGS AND MEMBER MEETINGS.
