SCHOOL SUPPLY REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM: PURPOSE: INCENTIVIZE FAMILIES TO APPLY FOR THE FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE MEALS SERVICE (FARMS) PROGRAM WITH A "SCHOOL SUPPLY REIMBURSEMENT" DIRECT CASH TRANSFER. ACCOMPLISHMENT: DISTRIBUTED 500 SCHOOL SUPPLY REIMBURSEMENTS TO MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.
PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN: PURPOSE: HIGHLIGHT THE IMPORTANCE OF FILLING OUT A FARMS APPLICATION AND ADDRESS COMMON CONCERNS ABOUT THE PROGRAM. ACCOMPLISHMENT: OUR TARGETED PUBLIC SERVICE ADVERTISEMENTS WERE VIEWED 1,407,958 TIMES BY FAMILIES IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY. IN TOTAL, 70,288 STUDENTS ARE NOW SIGNED UP FOR FARMS WHICH IS 43.52% OF THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY STUDENT BODY (COMPARED TO THE LAST SCHOOL YEAR WITH 62,962 STUDENTS SIGNED UP AMOUNTING TO 39.51% OF THE STUDENT BODY).
TARGETED SCHOOL FUNDING CAMPAIGN: PURPOSE: WORK WITH COMMUNITY LEADERS AND PTAS ON A LAST-PUSH EFFORT AT SCHOOLS THAT ARE RIGHT ON THE BORDER OF SIGNING UP ENOUGH STUDENTS FOR FARMS TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM THE STATE. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: NINE ADDITIONAL SCHOOLS REACHED THE 40% THRESHOLD NECESSARY TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL STATE FUNDING TO OFFER UNIVERSAL BREAKFAST TO ALL STUDENTS (EIGHT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND ONE MIDDLE SCHOOL). 5,000 MORE STUDENTS WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS ADDITIONAL FUNDING.
