WE ELEVATE AND EMPOWER PEOPLE OF COLOR IN NEW HAMPSHIRE BY FOSTERING CONNECTIONS, CHANGING SYSTEMS, AND MEETING COMMUNITY NEEDS TO MAKE A BETTER GRANITE STATE WHERE ALL BELONG.

COMMUNITY BUILDING & ORGANIZING. WITHIN THIS PILLAR, NHCJE CONVENES AND CONNECTS. NHCJE TRAVELED AND HOSTED MANY PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS DURING OUR "ENGAGEMENT TOUR." THESE INCLUDE: CONSERVATION LAW FOUNDATION, YWCA, NH EDVANTAGE, WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCIL, AND BLM NH. IN JANUARY 2023, NHCJE LAUNCHED OUR BI-WEEKLY ESSAY AND BLOG SERIES WITH THE GOAL OF BRINGING ATTENTION TO SOME OF THE MOST PRESSING ISSUES AND PUBLIC POLICIES FACING NH'S COMMUNITIES OF COLOR AND SIMILARLY MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. THESE BLOGS CROSS ALL OF NHCJE'S PROGRAM PILLARS AND SECTORS OF EFFORT. WE HAVE COLLECTED INFORMATION ABOUT OVER 100 COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS WHOSE WORK RELATES TO JUSTICE AND EQUITY.
PUBLIC POLICY. WITHIN THIS PILLAR, NHCJE INFORMS AND EDUCATES. MUCH OF NHCJE'S PUBLIC POLICY WORK IN THE LAST YEAR HAS FOCUSED ON RESPONDING TO THE IMMENSE PRESSURE THAT NEW HAMPSHIRE ADMISTRATORS AND EDUCATORS ARE UNDER TO PRIOVIDE INCLUSIVE EQUITABLE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNUTIES. NHCJE DEVELOPED AND SUPPORTED A MYRIAD OF MUTUALLY SUPPORTIVE INITIATIVES. THIS INCLUDED PUBLISHING "THE BELONGING CASE FOR DIVERSITY", A LITERATURE REVIEW HIGHLIGHTING THE IMPORTANCE OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, AND JUSTICE IN PUBLIC EDUCATION. IN MAY 2023, NHCJE HOSTED OUR FIRST ANNUAL MEETING, WHICH FOCUSED ON OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADVANCING EQUITY IN EDUCATION.
INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING. WITHIN THIS PILLAR, NHCJE STRENGTHENS AND SUPPORTS. WITH THE SUPPORT OF NHCJE'S COLLABORATOR SCOTT MEADORS, NHCJE DEVELOPED AND LAUNCHED IMPLICIT BIAS AND TACTICAL MINDSET/DE-ESCALATION TRAININGS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFESSIONALS. NHCJE PARTNERED WITH POLICE AND COURTS ACROSS THE STATE. NHCJE STAFF HAS PRESENTED TO A MYRIAD OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR PARTNERS ON NEW HAMPSHIRE'S CHANGING DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE AND THE DISPARITIES IN ECONOMIC, HEALTH, SOCIAL, AND EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES FACING NH' S COMMUNITIES OF COLOR AND SIMILARLY MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. EXAMPLES INCLUDE UNH COOPERATIVE EXTENSION, NH BAR ASSOCIATION LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE, NH PUBLIC HEALTH ASSOCIATION, NH ORAL HEALTH COALITION, AND CAPITAL REGION HEALTHCARE. NHCJE ALSO PARTICIPATED IN MANCHESTER'S WE ARE ONE FESTIVAL AND CONCORD'S MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL, SETTING UP A TABLE AT EACH EVENT TO GET TO KNOW THE COMMUNITY BETTER, AND TO HAVE THE COMMUNITY KNOW NHCJE.
