YOUTH IN THE FRIENDS PROGRAM FACE CONSIDERABLE CHALLENGES, INCLUDING POSSIBLE PLACEMENT IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM, UNDER-RESOURCED COMMUNITIES AND SCHOOLS, HOMELESSNESS, POVERTY, AND HEALTH DISPARITIES, INCLUDING ACCESS TO QUALITY HEALTH CARE. DESPITE THESE BARRIERS, YOUTH PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM ENTER ADULTHOOD WITH STRONG FOUNDATIONS AND YIELD THE FOLLOWING OUTCOMES: 83% GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL OR EARN A GED, 93% AVOID JUVENILLE JUSTICE SYSTEM INVOLVEMENT, AND 98% AVOID TEEN PARENTING.
