TLBR HOSTS AN ANNUAL BICYCLE RACE IN WHITEFISH, MONTANA. THE COURSE IS MULTI-SURFACE SHOWCASING THE BEST OF WHITEFISH'S GRAVEL, DIRT, SINGLE TRACK, DOUBLE TRACK, AND PAVED ROADWAYS. PARTICIPANTS EXPERIENCE THE CHALLENGING NATURAL TOPOGRAPHY OF THE MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS OF WHITEFISH, MONTANA. OVER A SERIES OF DAYS, AND OTHER TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AS PART OF THE EVENT, TLBR OFFERS GROUP BICYCLE RIDES, EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS ON BICYCLE HANDLING SKILLS, BICYCLE SAFETY, BICYCLE MAINTENANCE, NUTRITION, GENERAL SELF-IMPROVEMENT, AND COMMUNITY DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION OF THE UNDERPRIVILEGED. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND VOLUNTEERS OVERSEE AND CONDUCT ALL ASPECTS OF THE EVENT. TIME ALLOCATION FOR THE EVENT CAN VARY BETWEEN 20 TO 80 HOURS PER WEEK DEPENDENT UPON NEED AND SCHEDULING (I.E., 20 HOURS IN LESS BUSY MONTHS, 80 HOURS OR MORE IN MONTHS LEADING UP TO THE EVENT). THE EVENT IS FUNDED THROUGH SPONSOR DONATIONS, INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS, AND PARTICIPANT ENTRY FEES WHICH ARE APPLIED TOWARDS THE EVENT'S EXPENSES AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR QUALIFIED AND DESERVING STUDENTS. APPROXIMATELY 72 PERCENT OF THE OVERALL EXPENSES ARE ALLOCATED FOR THE EVENT WITH THE BALANCE BEING AWARDED TO DESERVING STUDENTS IN THE FORM OF SCHOLARSHIPS. AT END OF 2023, A TOTAL OF 5 STUDENTS WERE AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING 22,500. THIS REPRESENTS A TOTAL OF 15 CHAMPION SCHOLAR AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS PROVIDED AT A TOTAL OF 75,500 OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS. AND OVER 11,000 OF COMMUNITY LEADER PROGRAM FUNDING WAS PROVIDED IN 2023 FOR UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS INCLUDING BIPOC AND PARA.
