Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE MISSION OF CHARLIE MIKE IS TO SAVE THE LIVES OF THOSE STILL CARRYING THE UNSEEN WOUNDS OF COMBAT, ONE VETERAN AT A TIME.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
HORSES ARE SOME OF THE MOST MAJESTIC AND MAGNIFICENT ANIMALS ON EARTH. LIKE DOGS, WORKING WITH AND AROUND HORSES CAN BE THERAPEUTIC IN NATURE. THE EMOTIONAL INTUITIVENESS AND CONNECTION REQUIRED TO WORK WITH HORSES PROVIDE SEVERAL EMOTIONAL BENEFITS AT THE SAME TIME. HORSES ARE A MIRROR, AND DIRECTLY RESPOND OR DONT RESPOND TO THE EMOTION AND ENERGY WE BRING TO THE INTERACTION.WORKING WITH HORSES WILL COMPEL HONEST CONVERSATIONS WITH OURSELVES AS MILITARY VETERANS. IT WILL REQUIRE POSITIVE ENERGY, AND PUTTING OUR OWN ANXIETIES, ANGER, AND OTHER STRUGGLES, IN CHECK. IT WILL REQUIRE A SENSE OF CALM, AND REQUIRE A QUIETNESS TO ELICIT A POSITIVE RESPONSE FROM OUR EQUINE FRIENDS AND COMPANIONS. OVER TIME, THIS PRACTICE CAN TEACH NEW BEHAVIOR AND NEW EMOTIONAL HABITS, AND GIVE A REAL OPPORTUNITY FOR HEALING.
AS MUCH AS VETERANS MISS THEIR TEAMS, THEY MISS THE SERVICE. CHARLIE MIKE HAS A SOLUTION: GETTING VETERANS BACK INTO SERVICE. CREATING STABILITY BY SERVING OTHERS IS A SIMPLE APPROACH FOR LONG-TERM HEALING. THE GIVING OF ONESELF TO ANOTHER PERSON OR CAUSE OFTEN DOES MORE FOR THE GIVER THAN THE RECEIVER. WHEN WE SERVE AND HELP EACH OTHER, WE SERVE A HIGHER CAUSE, AND YET GAIN PERSONAL BENEFITS THAT ARE IMMEASURABLE.THE SOLUTION WILL INCLUDE COMMUNITY SERVICE IN A LARGER AND NONTRADITIONAL WAY. VETERANS WANT A MISSION A REAL MISSION HELPING REAL PEOPLE, AND WHERE THE STAKES MIGHT EVEN BE HIGH. AFTER ALL, VETERANS ARE ACCUSTOMED TO THAT, AND NO ONE DOES IT BETTER. CHARLIE MIKE WILL SEEK AND PROVIDE SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES, SUCH AS NATURAL DISASTER RELIEF AND CLEAN-UP IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES, SECURITY FOR DISASTER AREAS OR SUPPLY POINTS, AND MANPOWER FOR OTHER NON-POLITICAL, HUMANITARIAN NEEDS.
DOGS OFTEN PROVE TO BE AN EFFECTIVE TOOL IN ASSISTING WITH EMOTIONAL NEEDS. IT HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED THAT EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND THERAPY ANIMALS CAN PROVIDE TANGIBLE RESULTS IN CREATING EMOTIONAL HEALING AND STABILITY. THIS CAN CORRELATE TO A REDUCTION IN SUICIDES, AND CREATE A SENSE OF PURPOSE.IN ADDITION, APPROXIMATELY ONE MILLION DOGS IN THE UNITED STATES ARE EUTHANIZED EACH YEAR. WE WILL EVALUATE AND RESCUE DOGS FROM ANIMAL SHELTERS, TRAIN THEM TO BE BATTLE BUDDIES, AND PLACE THEM WITH VETERANS. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT COMPONENT OF THE CHARLIE MIKE MISSION. IN THIS EFFORT, WE ESSENTIALLY SAVE TWO LIVES: RESCUE A DOG, AND THEN, RESCUE A VETERAN.
WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH ONE OF THE LARGEST ONLINE COUNSELING SERVICES IN AMERICA. WE WILL PROVIDE FOUR SESSIONS PER MONTH, AND UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGING WITH THIS SERVICE. THIS PROVIDES REGULAR CONTACT, INTERACTION, AND AN ALWAYS ON OPTION FOR OUR VETERANS. CHARLIE MIKE WILL ALSO OFFER CONFIDENTIAL ONLINE COUNSELING SERVICE TO FEMALE VETERANS RELATED TO MILITARY SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND DEDICATE RESOURCES AND PROGRAM SUPPORT SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS CAUSE. WE WILL STAND WITH ALL OUR VETERANS, REGARDLESS OF HOW DIFFICULT THE TOPIC.
