TO ENCOURAGE AND NURTURE YOUTH TO LIVE ABOVE THEIR SOCIALLY IMPOSED LIMITATIONS; TO DEVELOP THEIR CHARACTER, TALENTS, AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS ALLOWING THEM TO GO BEYOND A DREAM AND ACHIEVE REMARKABLE EXCELLENCE.

BE VIRTUAL - BE. VIRTUAL IS THE FLAGSHIP PROGRAM OF THE BE. ORG, BOLSTERING SUPPORT ON BOTH A LOCAL AND NATIONAL LEVEL. THE OVERALL GROWTH OF BE. VIRTUAL IS OUR BIGGEST SUCCESS, WITHIN THE PAST YEAR. WE HAVE GROWN FROM ONLY HAVING A SUMMER YOUTHWORKS PARTNERSHIP TO TWO SESSIONS OF WEEKLY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING AT TWO SEPARATE SITES. AT CONNEXIONS ACADEMY, COHORT 1 STUDENTS HAVE INCREASED THE VISIBILITY AND REPUTATION WITHIN THE SCHOOL. THE PROGRAM HAS SUPPORTED 65 STUDENTS FROM WEST BALTIMORE, MD THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR AND SUMMER.


GEA-GIRLS EMPOWERMENT ACADEMY - DURING OUR RECENT GIRLS EMPOWERMENT ACADEMY, GIRLS PARTICIPATED IN A TRIP TO THE NEW LEXINGTON MARKET. THIS WAS AN INTENTIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO IMMERSE THEMSELVES INTO THE LARGER BALTIMORE COMMUNITY AND EXPERIENCE IT THROUGH A NEW LENS. THE SESSIONS PRIOR TO THE VISIT WERE DEDICATED TO PREPARATION FOR THE VISIT. THESE SESSIONS INCLUDED WATCHING SEASON 4 OF THE GODADDY MADE IN AMERICA SERIES ENTITLED MADE IN BALTIMORE. THE SERIES INCLUDED A DEEP DIVE INTO THE BACK STORIES, RESILIENCE, DETERMINATION AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT OF SEVERAL BALTIMORE BASED SMALL BUSINESSES AND OWNERS. GEA CULMINATED WITH A WOMENS FIRESIDE CHAT FOCUSING ON LOCAL WOMEN LEADERS IN BALTIMORE AND A CHARGE TO OUR GIRLS TO EMBRACE THEIR OWN LEADERSHIP.


BE COLLEGE READY - HIGHLIGHTS THE ANNUAL BEYOND A DREAM YOUTH CONFERENCE HOSTED ON THE CAMPUS OF OUR PARTNER TOWSON UNIVERSITY. WE WELCOMED OVER 100 STUDENTS AND PARENTS AS THEY LEARNING ABOUT THE COLLEGE ADMISSIONS PROCESS FROM STUDENTS AND UNIVERSITY OFFICIALS AS WELL AS LEARNING ABOUT CAREER PLANNING FOR CREATING PATHS TO CAREERS IN STEM, ARTS, MARKETING, AND HEALTH PROFESSIONS.
