ACCESS TO HEALTHY MEALS: IN 2021, FLIPANY PROVIDED OVER ONE MILLION HEALTHY MEALS TO KIDS IN NEED, ENSURING THAT OVER 6,200 YOUTH HAD A NUTRITIOUS MEAL EVERY DAY. USING BENTO BOX PACKAGING AND MULTI-CULTURAL FOOD EXPERIENCES, FLIPANY'S AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED AS A GAME-CHANGER FOR AT-RISK YOUTH. ADDITIONALLY, DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FLIPANY ENSURED SOUTH FLORIDA RESIDENTS GAINED ACCESS TO FREE MEALS AVAILABLE THROUGH COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS. LEVERAGING PARTNERSHIPS AND STATE-APPROVED CATERERS, FLIPANY PREPARED GRAB-N-GO MEALS AND DELIVERED THEM TO ACCESS SITES IN URBANIZED AREAS CLOSE TO CHILDREN'S HOMES AND ACCESSIBLE BY FAMILIES. OUR PARTNERS AND CHEFS USE FUNDS TO CREATE FRESH, NUTRIENT DENSE MEALS DISTRIBUTED AT EXISTING SITES.
NUTRITION EDUCATION: FLIPANY'S TEAM OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROFESSIONALS DELIVERED LIFE-CHANGING EVIDENCE BASED NUTRITION EDUCATION TO OVER 40,000 LOW-INCOME FLORIDA RESIDENTS AT OVER 300 LOCATIONS. FLIPANY'S TEAMS OF CHEF INSTRUCTORS AND NUTRITION EDUCATORS DELIVER HIGHLY INTERACTIVE, HANDS-ON HEALTHY FOOD EXPERIENCES TO LOW-INCOME SENIORS, PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND KIDS OF ALL AGES. THE LINK BETWEEN A HIGH QUALITY OF LIFE AND A HIGH QUALITY DIET IS INDISPUTABLE, AND LOW-INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS HAVE THE LEAST ACCESS TO FRESH PRODUCE AND OTHER WHOLE FOODS. FLIPANY'S NUTRITION EDUCATION PROGRAMS ARE IMPORTANT TOOLS IN THE EFFORT TO GIVE EVERYONE A CHANCE TO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: IN 2021 FLIPANY DELIVERED EVIDENCE BASED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROGRAMS TO OVER 130 SITES IN BROWARD, PALM BEACH, AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTIES. THROUGH INNOVATIVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL AGENCIES AND NATIONAL PROGRAMS, FLIPANY BRINGS HIGH QUALITY FITNESS ACTIVITIES TO LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES AT NO COST TO PARTICIPANTS. FLIPANY'S YOUTH SOCCER PROGRAMS ARE SUPPORTED IN PART BY THE U.S. SOCCER FOUNDATION, AND FLIPANY'S ANNUAL WALK/RUN/PADDLE 5K RACE RAISES FUNDS FOR COUCH TO 5K COACHING PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH. YOUTH CAN EARN-A-BIKE THORUGH A HANDS-ON COURSE OF BIKE MECHANICS AND CAN LEARN TO RIDE SOUTH FLORIDA'S BIKING TRAILS AT FLIPANY'S MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMP.
