TAKE CARE UTAH:TAKE CARE UTAH (TCU) WAS LAUNCHED IN 2010 AS A COMMUNITY-BASED HEALTH INSURANCE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. IT HAS SINCE EXPANDED SIGNIFICANTLY AND SERVES PRIMARILY LOW-INCOME AND UNDESERVED UTAHNS OF DISPARATE BACKGROUNDS, INCLUDING INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE REFUGEES, HISPANIC, HOMELESS, LGBTQ, OR WHO STRUGGLE WITH SUBSTANCE ABUSE DISORDERS. THE ORGANIZATION MANAGES HEALTH ACCESS ASSISTERS DIRECTLY AND PROVIDES TRAINING, SUPPORT, AND AN ONLINE LOOKUP TOOL TO ADDITIONAL ASSISTERS MANAGED BY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE STATE. NO MATTER WHERE AN INDIVIDUAL RESIDES IN UTAH, THERE IS AN ASSISTER NEARBY WHO WILL PROVIDE FAIR, ACCURATE, AND IMPARTIAL SERVICES. TCU'S GOAL IS TO GET AS MANY INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES AS POSSIBLE ENROLLED IN HEALTH INSURANCE AND ACCESSING NEEDED HEALTH CARE SERVICES.
POLICY:UTAH HEALTH POLICY PROJECT WAS FOUNDED TO ADVOCATE FOR IMPROVEMENTS IN UTAH'S HEALTH CARE SYSTEM THROUGH POLICY CHANGE AT THE NATIONAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LEVELS. THE ORGANIZATION FOCUSES POLICY ADVOCACY EFFORTS ON UNDERSERVED HEALTH CARE CONSUMERS, WITH EMPHASIS PLACED ON MEDICAID, THE CHILDREN'S HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM, AND THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT. THE ORGANIZATION'S MAJOR POLICY ACHIEVEMENT IS THE PASSAGE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF MEDICAID EXPANSION TO BENEFIT TENS OF THOUSANDS OF LOW-INCOME ADULTS.
