WSCA'S MISSION IS TO UNITE THOSE PERSONS IN THE WESTERN UNITED STATES WHO HAVE AN ACADEMIC, LAY OR PROFESSIONAL INTEREST IN COMMUNICATION AND TO PROMOTE THEIR MUTUAL EDUCATION INTERESTS. (CONST. ART) WSCA HOSTS AN ANNUAL CONVENTION AND PUBLISHES 2 ACADEMIC JOURNALS AND A NEWSLETTER.

SPONSOR THE 2020 ANNUAL CONVENTION IN DENVER, CO IN FEBRUARY. THE CONVENTION ATTRACTED 651 PARTICIPANTS WHO ATTENDED AND SHARED COMMUNICATION RESEARCH IN OVER 100 PANELS, PROGRAMS, AND WORKSHOPS. AWARDS WERE GIVEN TO HONOR OUTSTANDING RESEARCH, DISTINGUISHED SERVICES BY MEMBERS, MODEL COMMUNICATION PROGRAMS AND OUTSTANDING SCHOLARSHIPS PRESENTED BY FIRST-TIME PARTICIPANTS. STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARS RESEARCH CONFERENCE RECEIVED COMPLIMENTARY FEES FOR THAT PROGRAM AND FREE REGISTRATION FOR THE REST OF THE CONVENTION.
PUBLICATION OF THE "WESTERN JOURNAL OF COMMUNICATION" 5 TIMES A YEAR INCLUDING OVER 40 ARTICLES ANNUALLY. ARTICLES FOCUS ON COMMUNICATION AND WELCOME ALL METHODOLOGIES AND RELEVEANT TOPIC AREAS. IN ADDITION TO LIBRARIES, APRROX. 1000 PEOPLE RECEIVE THE JOURNAL.
