IN EARLY 2023 DAUNTLESS VETERAN FOUNDATION AWARDED $40,000 TO FIVE SELECTED AND ELIGIBLE VETERANS. $8,000 WAS GIVEN TO INVEST IN AN AG LEADER YIELD MONITOR AND MAPPING DEVICE FOR THE COMBINE AND FERTILIZER SPREADER AT THE GRANT RECIPIENT'S 800 ACRE FARM. THIS TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS THEM TO MEASURE PRODUCT QUALITY IN THE FIELD, IDENTIFY WEAK SPOTS, AND MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS ON SOIL SAMPLES AND FERTILIZER USE. $10,000 TO PURCHASE A PORTABLE SAW MILL, AND LOG SPLITTER WITH A LOG LIFT. SINCE GETTING THESE TOOLS, THE GRANT RECIPIENT HAS WORKED TO REDUCE FOREST OVERGROWTH AND PREVENT WILDFIRES, HARVESTING THE OVERGROWN WOOD AND PUTTING IT TO GOOD USE - SOME OF THE WOOD HARVESTED WAS USED FOR RAISED BEDS IN THE STATE GOVERNOR'S MANSION! $15,750 WAS GIVEN TO PURCHASE A BCS WALK BEHIND TRACTOR WITH IMPLEMENTS. WITH THE ENHANCED TRACTOR, THE GRANT RECIPIENT HAS BEEN ABLE TO EXPAND THEIR OPERATIONS AND IS NOW OFFERING COVER CROP MANAGEMENT TO LOCAL FARMERS AND LANDOWNERS, HELPING LOCAL VINEYARDS PLANT COVER CROPS AND PREPARE SOIL TO PLANT POLLINATORS. $5,750 WAS GIVEN TO PURCHASE A GRAIN GRINDER, HAY CRUSHER, AND PELLET MILL WITH THE INTENT TO HELP THE RECIPIENT BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT AND PROVIDE THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND SURROUNDING AREAS WITH QUALITY NUBIAN GOATS, GOATS' MILK, MANGALITSA PIGS AND PORK, AND ALFALFA AND SERICEA HAY/PELLETS. A $500 NEED BASED GRANT WAS GIVEN TO HELP EXPAND THE RECIPIENTS YOUNG OPERATION IN GROWING MUSHROOMS AND SELLING SPAWN KITS TO THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITY.
