SPARK CREATES CAREER EXPLORATION AND SELF-DISCOVERY EXPERIENCES, PROVIDING CRITICAL INTERVENTION TO FUEL THE ACADEMIC JOURNEYS OF OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH INTERACTIONS WITH WORKING ADULTS. SPARK DISCOVERY LABS INCLUDE HANDS-ON SEL LESSONS, FIELD TRIPS, AND PRESENTATIONS FROM A VARIETY OF CORPORATE PARTNERS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES TO BROADEN STUDENTS' UNDERSTANDING OF VARIOUS INDUSTRIES AND CAREERS. SPARK MENTORSHIPS PAIR 7TH AND 8TH-GRADE STUDENTS WITH VOLUNTEER MENTORS FROM CORPORATE PARTNERS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES. THEY WORK TOGETHER TO CREATE A PROJECT ALIGNED WITH THE STUDENTS' INTEREST AND THEIR MENTORS' SKILLS/EXPERIENCE. GROUPS PRACTICE SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL SKILLS DURING EACH SESSION AND WORK ON TRANSFERABLE PROJECT SKILLS LIKE NETWORKING, TEAMWORK, TIME MANAGEMENT, AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT. THROUGH MENTORSHIP, STUDENTS ARE EXPOSED TO NEW CAREERS THAT HELP FORMULATE THEIR DREAMS FOR THEIR FUTURES.
