HOUSE OF REFUGE ASSISTED 446 HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS (263 CHILDREN, 183 ADULTS) BY PROVIDING TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND SUPPORT SERVICES. THIS REPRESENTS 143 HOUSEHOLDS. ON AVERAGE, 250 RESIDENTS LIVE AT HOUSE OF REFUGE ON ANY GIVEN DAY. THE AVERAGE RESIDENT IS A 34 YR. OLD SINGLE MOTHER WITH 3 CHILDREN. 85% OF THE FAMILIES SERVED WERE SINGLE FEMALES, HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD. 50% HAVE HISTORIES OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. 75% OF THE FAMILIES CAME FROM WHAT IS DESCRIBED AS THE "HIDDEN HOMELESS" (TEMPORARILY LIVING WITH FAMILY AND/OR FRIENDS OR LIVING IN THEIR CAR). HOUSING - HOUSE OF REFUGE MANAGES 88 HOMES. 80 ARE FOR FAMILIES AND 8 ARE FOR SERVICES - DONATION CENTER (2), EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION CENTER (1), FAMILY SERVICES/CASE MANAGEMENT (1), AFTER SCHOOL COMMUNITY CENTER (1), MAINTENANCE (1), AFTER HOURS STAFF (2). SOCIAL SERVICES - ALL ADULT RESIDENTS HAVE A CASE MANAGER WITH A MINIMUM OF A BACHELOR'S DEGREE WHO THEY MEET WITH AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. INDIVIDUAL CASE PLANS ARE PREPARED THAT IDENTIFY BARRIERS TO EXITING HOMELESSNESS SO GOALS ARE SET TO STOP THAT CYCLE. ALL ADULT RESIDENTS ALSO MEET WITH THE EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH TO WORK ON GOALS IN THAT AREA. OVER 95% COMPLETE THE PROGRAM AND MEET THEIR GOALS AND MOVE INTO STABLE HOUSING. BECAUSE OF THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS, ONLY 70% OF THOSE COMPLETING THE PROGRAM MOVED INTO THEIR OWN AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
