PUBLISHES A SCHOLARLY JOURNAL, "GERMAN STUDIES REVIEW" THREE TIMES PER YEAR IN COOPERATION WITH THE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY PRESS. HELD ITS ANNUAL ACADEMIC CONFERENCE, HOSTED EACH FALL AND IS ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 1,300 TO 1,400 PARTICIPANTS. THE CONFERENCE WAS VIRTUAL IN 2021 DUE TO COVID. THE ANNUAL EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING AND ANNUAL GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING ARE ALSO HELD DURING THE CONFERENCE. CONDUCTED ITS ANNUAL ELECTION TO CHOOSE NEW MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND NEW OFFICERS; MANAGED ITS ENDOWMENT.INTERACTED WITH OTHER SCHOLARLY ORGANIZATIONS, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND INSTITUIONAL ORGANIZATIONS THAT ARE ALSO INTERESTED IN GERMAN STUDIES MATTER.HELD THREE-DAY MEETING OF GSA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL IN DECEMBER.ACTIVITIES WITH BERLIN PROGRAM FOR ADVANCED GERMAN AND EUROPEAN STUDIES AT THE FREE UNIVERSITY BERLIN.
