TO DEVELOP AND SUPPORT THOSE IN THE STRUGGLE FOR EDUCATIONAL FREEDOM BY UTILIZING THE INTELLECTUAL WORK AND DIRECT ACTION OF ABOLITIONISTS IN MANY FORMS. SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE PROGRAMMING TO SUPPORT EDUCATORS' ABOLITIONIST PRACTICES, YOUTH PROGRAMMING, AND SUPPORTING ACTIVISTS IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES.

ABOLITIONIST TEACHING NETWORK HIRED ITS COHORT OF 6 ACTIVISTS IN RESIDENCE. ACTIVISTS IN RESIDENCE IS OUR CENTRAL PROGRAM, WORKING ALONGSIDE EDUCATORS TO BUILD MORE SOCIALLY-JUST SCHOOLS. THIS PROGRAM OPERATES IN SELECT CITIES NATIONWIDE, IS COORDINATED AND ADMINISTERED BY AN ACTIVISTS IN RESIDENCE DIRECTOR, AND IS OVERSEEN BY THE BOARD OFFICERS.
ABOLITIONIST TEACHING NETWORK HOSTS ONLINE EVENTS, INCLUDING WEBINARS, TRAININGS, DISCUSSIONS, AND EXPERT PANELS ON TOPICS SUCH AS ABOLITIONIST TEACHING, LIBERATION, JUSTICE, ALLYSHIP, AND SELF-CARE. TICKETS FOR THESE EVENTS ARE OFFERED ON A SLIDING SCALE AND ARE FREE FOR YOUTH ATTENDEES. REVENUES FROM TICKET SALES ARE USED TO PAY PRESENTER STIPENDS, ASL INTERPRETERS FOR THE EVENTS, AND OTHER ASSOCIATED COSTS. REMAINING REVENUE IS USED TO FUND OTHER ABOLITIONIST TEACHING NETWORK ACTIVITIES.
ABOLITIONIST TEACHING NETWORK AWARDS FUNDS TO INDIVIDUALS WHO STRIVE TO DISRUPT INEQUALITIES AND INJUSTICE IN THEIR SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES. BOARD OFFICERS AND ABOLITIONIST TEACHING NETWORK STAFF COORDINATE AND ADMINISTER THE PROGRAM, WHILE BOARD MEMBERS AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS EVALUATE THE APPLICATIONS. THIS YEAR, ATN DIRECTLY FUNDED 150 APPLICANTS.
YOUTH PROGRAMMING FOR CHILDREN AGED 9-14 THAT INTRODUCES COMPLEX QUESTIONS ABOUT FREEDOM AND HELPS KIDS FIND ANSWERS THAT ARE MEANINGFUL FOR THEIR LIVES. PROGRAMMING INTRODUCES THE PHILOSOPHIES OF FREEDOM, PHILOSOPHIES OF RACE, AND WAYS THAT BLACK FOLKS HAVE EXPRESSED THEIR FREEDOM DREAMS THROUGHOUT HISTORY. THE PROGRAMMING IS FACILITATED BY AN ABOLITIONIST TEACHING NETWORK CONTRACT STAFF MEMBER AND IS FREE FOR YOUTH PARTICIPANTS (ABOLITIONIST TEACHING NETWORK COVERS THE COSTS).
