FROM JUNE THROUGH DECEMBER, TUBMAN HEALTH OFFERED 18 VIP VACCINATION EVENTS A MONTH INBLAXINATE LOUNGES FOR PEOPLE AGES 5 AND UP, PROVIDING BOTH FIRST AND SECOND DOSES AND BOOSTERS. PARTNERING WITH BLACKCOMMUNITY INSTITUTIONS AND BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES, TUBMAN HEALTH STAFF, COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS, AND VOLUNTEER NURSESCREATED AN INVITING, PEOPLE-CENTERED, AND COMFORTABLE ATMOSPHERE WITH COMMUNITY MEMBER ACCOMPANIMENT ANDTHERAPEUTIC DCOR AND MANIPULATIVES FOR PEOPLE WHO WERE RELUCTANT, FEARFUL, AND/OR HESITANT ABOUT THE COVID VACCINE.TUBMAN HEALTH SET UP THESE MOBILE LOUNGES AT BIPOC COMMEMORATIVE PARKS, BEACHES, COMMUNITY EVENTS, AND VENUESTHROUGHOUT SOUTH SEATTLE. WELL US STUDY. WELLNESS EQUITY BY LIFTING UP LOCAL UNDERREPORTED SOLUTIONS (WELL US). WELL US IS A COMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH PROCESS THAT ASSESSES: 1) BARRIERS TO CARE FOR BLACK, BROWN, LGBTQI, IMMIGRANT, DISABLED AND OTHERWISE MARGINALIZED PEOPLE IN THE REGION; 2) COMMUNITY ADAPTATIONS TO MEET HEALTH/WELLNESS NEEDS; AND, 3) OPPORTUNITIES FOR INSURERS TO ADDRESS SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH. IN 2021, WE LAUNCHED AND COMPLETED PHASE ONE OF WELL US, WITH A SURVEYPREPARED AND DISSEMINATED IN COLLABORATION WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS REPRESENTING BIPOC, LGBTQIA, AND DISABLEDCOMMUNITIES AND TRANSLATED INTO FIVE LANGUAGES (CHINESE, VIETNAMESE, SPANISH, SOMALI, AND AMHARIC).
COMMUNITY VISIONING AND DESIGN. TUBMAN HEALTH IS DEVELOPING A PREMIER BLACK COMMUNITY OWNED AND LED HEALTHINSTITUTION FOR ALL PEOPLE. THE HEALTH CENTER, SLATED TO OPEN IN 2025, WILL OFFER CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE CARE AND GOLD-STANDARDPUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE TO ADDRESS PERSISTENT HEALTH INEQUITIES THAT THE CURRENT HEALTH CARE SYSTEM HAS PROVEN UNABLE TOSOLVE. IN 2021, TUBMAN HEALTH LAUNCHED A COMMUNITY VISIONING AND DESIGN PROCESS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CLINIC. DURING THE SUMMER, TUBMAN HEALTH SPONSORED AN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH TO RESEARCH, DESIGN, VISION, AND ENGAGE WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN THIS PROCESS.
