CENTER FOR FAMILY LIFE IN SUNSET PARK (CFLSP)'S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE POSITIVE OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS IN SUNSET PARK THROUGH THE PROVISION OF A COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF NEIGHBORHOOD-BASED FAMILY AND SOCIAL SERVICES. SUNSET PARK IS A DENSELY POPULATED, LOW-INCOME NEIGHBORHOOD WITH A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF RECENT IMMIGRANTS. AS SUCH, CFLSP OFFERS ACCESS TO RESOURCES THAT FAMILIES NEED TO THRIVE, INCLUDING FAMILY COUNSELING AND NEIGHBORHOOD-BASED FOSTER CARE, CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS AT NEIGHBORHOOD PUBLIC SCHOOLS, ADULT AND YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS, AND AN EMERGENCY STOREFRONT FOR FOOD AND ADVOCACY. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY, CFLSP PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, ENRICHES NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENTS' QUALITY OF LIFE, AND NURTURES RELATIONSHIPS THAT SUSTAIN FAMILIES AND SUPPORT YOUTH IN BECOMING CONFIDENT, CAPABLE ADULTS.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAMSTHE COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF INTEGRATED SERVICES AIMS TO SUSTAIN AND NURTURE FAMILIES AND TO CREATE A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY FROM WHICH CHILDREN CAN EMERGE AS CONFIDENT, CAPABLE ADULTS.


SCHOOL BASED YOUTH AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMSFOR MORE THAN FOUR DECADES, CFL HAS DEVELOPED A THRIVING CONTINUUM OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY-BUILDING PROGRAMS AT NINE NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS: PS 1, PS 94, PS 169, PS 503/PS 506, PS 971, MS 136/MS 821, AND SUNSET PARK HIGH SCHOOL. THESE PROGRAMS ARE HUBS OF ENRICHING, SUPPORTIVE, AND INCLUSIVE ACTIVITIES THAT BRING TOGETHER CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND ADULTS FROM OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITY IN SUNSET PARK.THE PROGRAMS ARE GROUNDED IN THE BELIEF THAT STRONG CONNECTIONS BETWEEN FAMILIES, SCHOOLS, AND NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL TO PROMOTING POSITIVE OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS. YEAR-ROUND AFTERSCHOOL, EVENING, AND WEEKEND ACTIVITIES FOR ALL AGES USE SOCIAL GROUP WORK METHODS TO ENGAGE YOUTH IN EDUCATIONAL, CULTURAL, AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, INVOLVING PARTICIPANTS IN GROUP EXPERIENCES THAT FOSTER THEIR DEVELOPMENT INTO CONFIDENT, CAPABLE ADULTS.
