HHSC OPERATES PUBLIC HEALTH FACILITIES IN THE STATE OF HAWAII. THE CORPORATION LESSENS THE BURDENS OF HHSC BY PROVIDING MEDICAL SERVICES AND EMPLOYING SPECIALTY PHYSICIANS, THAT HHSC WOULD OTHERWISE NEED TO EMPLOY ITSELF, TO RURAL AREAS OF THE ISLAND OF KAUAI.

THE CORPORATION STARTED EMPLOYING PHYSICIANS AND SERVING THE COMMUNITIES ON KAUAI IN JANUARY OF 2021, WITH FIVE PHYSICIANS INITIALLY THAT COVERED SPECIALTY SERVICES IN THE AREAS OF: HOSPITALIST, FAMILY MEDICINE, OBSTETRICS, AND GYNECOLOGY. BY THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR, THE CORPORATION EMPLOYED TWELVE PHYSICIANS AND ADDED THE FOLLOWING AREAS OF SPECIALTY SERVICES: GENERAL SURGERY, UROLOGY, AND GASTROENTEROLOGY.
