IMPROVE TIME TO DIAGNOSIS THREE LAKES FOUNDATION (TLF) 2021 PROJECTS INCLUDE A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF CHEST PHYSICIANS TO DEVELOP AND LAUNCH A COMPREHENSIVE PRIMARY CARE AWARENESS AND EDUCATION PROGRAM TO IMPROVE RECOGNITION OF EARLY SYMPTOMS OF IDIOPATHIC PULMONARY FIBROSIS (IPF) AND EXPEDITE REFERRALS TO PULMONOLOGISTS FOR EVALUATION, DIAGNOSIS, AND TREATMENT. TLF'S WORK IN EARLY SCREENING OF SYMPTOMATIC INDIVIDUALS IN 2021 PROVED SUCCESSFUL AND THE RESULTING PROGRAM, LUNGSTORY WILL BE LAUNCHED IN 2022. IN 2021, TLF DEVELOPED AND FUNDED A NEW PROJECT FOCUSED ON HOW ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS MAY CAUSE AND EFFECT DISEASE PROGRESSION WITH EXPERTS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY AND GLOBAL COLLABORATORS.
GENERAL PROGRAM TLF PROVIDES FUNDING FOR A RANGE OF ORGANIZATIONS DEDICATED TO INCREASING DISEASE AWARENESS AND SUPPORTING PATIENTS AND CAREGIVERS LIVING WITH IPF. IN 2021 GRANTS WERE PROVIDED TO: PF WARRIORS, A DALLAS BASED PATIENT GROUP THAT RUNS SUPPORT AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS; THE PULMONARY FIBROSIS FOUNDATION, FOR A NEW PROGRAM FOCUSED ON SUPPLEMENTAL OXYGEN ACCESS ISSUES; AND THE AMERICAN THORACIC SOCIETY'S "HELPING THE WORLD TO BREATH".
ACCELERATE THERAPIES TLF LED THE DEVELOPMENT OF BEFORE PF, AN INITIATIVE FOCUSED ON UNDERSTANDING IPF RISK AND PRE-SYMPTOMATIC DISEASE FOR THERAPEUTIC DEVELOPMENT IN COLLABORATION WITH INVESTIGATORS AT VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY. TLF CONTINUED TO SUPPORT THE PROLIFIC BIOMARKER CONSORTIUM AND MANAGE ITS COLLABORATION WITH THE AUSTRALIAN CRE-PF CONSORTIUM, RESULTING IN A GROWING NETWORK OF INVESTIGATORS AND RESEARCH PROJECTS FOCUSED ON EARLY DISEASE, TRANSLATIONAL SCIENCE, AND VALIDATION OF NEW DRUGS FOR CLINICAL STUDY.
MARCOMTLF ALLOCATION FUNDS FOR DEVELOPING FOUNDATION INITIATED DISEASE AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS AND COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT FOR GRANTEE PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS. IN 2021 TLF DEVELOPED AND LAUNCHED A NEW WEBSITE TO IMPROVE AWARENESS OF IPF, TLF AWARDS AND PROGRAM-RELATED NEWS. AS A RESULT, COMMUNICATION OPPORTUNITIES WERE IDENTIFIED AND SECURED TO PROMOTE RESEARCH PROJECTS AT YALE UNIVERSITY, A TLF PARTNERSHIP WITH LUNG FOUNDATION AUSTRALIA, AND A RANGE OF ACTIVITIES RELATED TO DIAGNOSING AND TREATING IPF.
