THE DENVER METRO COUNCIL OF THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY IS A NON-PROFIT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES A WIDE RANGE OF HUMAN SERVICES TO THE POOR AND SUFFERING. THE 366 LAY VOLUNTEERS ASSISTED MORE THAN 27,834 MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN WITH SUCH ITEMS AS FOOD, CLOTHING, FURNITURE, TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE, ASSISTANCE WITH RENT & MORTGAGE PAYMENTS, TEMPORARY HOUSING, PAYMENT OF MEDICAL BILLS AND REFERRALS FOR JOB ASSISTANCE AND PLACEMENTS. MUCH OF THIS AID WAS PROVIDED BY 28 LOCAL CONFERENCES. THESE LOCAL CONFERENCES PROVIDED 2,273,822 IN CASH AND NON- CASH ASSISTANCE, WITH THE FUNDS RAISED IN THEIR LOCAL PARISHES AND THROUGH FUNDS RECIEVED THROUGH GENEROUS GRANTS.
