THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE SOCIETY FOR MATHEMATICAL BIOLOGY WAS HELD IN PERSON AT THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY/MATH BIOSCIENCES INSTITUTE AND IT COINCIDED WITH THE SOCIETY FOR MATHEMATICAL BIOLOGY 50TH ANNIVERSARY. THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MATHEMATICAL AND BIOLOGICAL SCIENTISTS TO INTERACT IN A CONGENIAL ATMOSPHERE. FROM JULY 16-21, 2023, THIS MEETING WAS HELD IN COLUMBUS, OH. THROUGH OUR LANDAHL TRAVEL GRANT, THE SOCIETY SUPPORTED THE TRAVEL OF 46 EARLY CAREER RESEARCHERS FROM ACROSS TEH WORLD TO ATTEND THIS MEETING. THE TOTAL AMOUNT SPENT ON THIS TRAVEL SUPPORT WAS $24,721.
THE SOCIETY PUBLISHES A HIGHLY REGARDED SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL, "THE BULLETIN OF MATHEMATICAL BIOLOGY". THERE ARE 12 ISSUES EACH YEAR AVAILABLE BOTH ONLINE AND IN PAPER EDITIONS. THE SOCIETY PAYS THE PUBLISHER FOR SUBSCRIPTIONS FOR ALL MEMBERS. THE PUBLISHER REMITS ROYALTY PAYMENTS TO THE SOCIETY BASED ON THE INCOME GENERATED FROM THE BULLETIN. THESE ROYALTY PAYMENTS PROVIDE THE SOCIETY WITH FUNDS USED TO PROVIDE TRAVEL SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE SOCIETY'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND OTHER MATHEMATICAL BIOLOGY RELATED MEETINGS.
