UWS IS AN INTERNATIONAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED IN 2008 TO GIVE CHILDREN IN REMOTE AND MARGINALIZED REGIONS ACCESS TO QUALITY, INCLUSIVE EDUCATION. WE COLLABORATE WITH PARTNERS, COMMUNITIES, AND GOVERNMENTS TO ESTABLISH SCHOOLS, TRAIN TEACHERS, AND STRENGTHEN EDUCATION SYSTEMS.UWS IS MAKING A REMARKABLE DIFFERENCE IN RURAL AREAS OF NEPAL, CAMBODIA, MYANMAR, AND MADAGASCAR. WE ARE DELIVERING EDUCATION AND QUALITY SCHOOLING THAT EQUIPS THESE COMMUNITIES WITH THE TOOLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO THRIVE FOR GENERATIONS TO COME. OUR SUCCESS STORIES ARE A TESTAMENT TO THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF EDUCATION, FILLING HEARTS WITH HOPE AND OPTIMISM.IN 2019, UWS USA WAS ESTABLISHED TO EXPAND UWS'S REACH IN ADDRESSING THE GLOBAL EDUCATION CRISIS. THERE ARE 244 MILLION CHILDREN NOT ENROLLED IN FORMAL EDUCATION, AND MORE THAN HALF OF ALL CHILDREN CANNOT READ AND UNDERSTAND A SIMPLE TEXT BY AGE 10. THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC WORSENED THIS CRISIS, PRESENTING THE WORST SHOCK TO EDUCATION AND LEARNING IN A CENTURY. IT LED TO INCREASED ABSENTEEISM AND DROPOUT, SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTING STUDENT OUTCOMES WORLDWIDE TO THIS DAY. THE URGENCY OF THIS CRISIS DEMANDS IMMEDIATE ACTION.IN ADDITION, DECADES OF LOW INVESTMENT IN STATE EDUCATION SYSTEMS HAVE LED TO CHRONIC SHORTAGES OF QUALIFIED TEACHERS IN MANY LOW-INCOME COUNTRIES. WHERE SCHOOLS DO EXIST, CLASS SIZES ARE LARGE, AND ROTE LEARNING IS THE NORM, FUELLING DROPOUT AS CHILDREN DON'T SEE THE VALUE OF ATTENDING SCHOOL. THE 'QUALITY GAP' USUALLY MIRRORS WIDER URBAN-RURAL INEQUALITIES, WITH MANY GOVERNMENT TEACHERS PREFERRING TO REMAIN IN WEALTHIER URBAN AREAS.ADDRESSING THIS EDUCATION CRISIS CANNOT BE OVERSTATED. EDUCATION IS ONE OF THE MOST POTENT TOOLS FOR ECONOMICALLY AND SOCIALLY MARGINALIZED CHILDREN AND ADULTS TO LIFT THEMSELVES OUT OF POVERTY. IT MUST BE A GLOBAL PRIORITY.UWS'S FIVE 'PILLARS' OF EDUCATION DELIVERY REFLECT A MULTI-DIMENSIONAL APPROACH IN LINE WITH THE UN'S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS. UWS'S STRATEGY RELIES ON ACCESS, QUALITY, INCLUSION, STRENGTHENED SYSTEMS, AND THE CREATION OF SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES.SINCE 2008, UWS HAS BUILT OVER 310 SCHOOLS, TRAINED OVER 1,500 TEACHERS, AND ENROLLED OVER 64,000 STUDENTS. SOME ADDITIONAL 2023 HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: 1. UWS HAS ACHIEVED GENDER PARITY IN STUDENT ENROLMENT ACROSS OUR SCHOOLS 2. 100% OF UWS SCHOOLS HAVE ACCESS TO WATER, SANITATION, AND HYGIENE FACILITIES.3. THE AVERAGE STUDENT ATTENDANCE ACROSS UWS SCHOOLS WAS 92% COMPARED WITH A 75% NATIONAL AVERAGE IN OUR COUNTRIES OF OPERATION.4. CURRENTLY, 163 UWS GIRLS' CLUBS AND MOTHER'S GROUPS ENGAGE WOMEN AND GIRLS IN DISCUSSIONS OF CRITICAL ISSUES AND THEIR RIGHTS.5. THE AVERAGE UWS TEACHER ATTENDANCE WAS 91% COMPARED TO 74% FOR GOVERNMENT TEACHERS IN OUR COUNTRIES OF OPERATION.UWS WILL CONTINUE TO EDUCATE THE FUTURE TO CHANGE THE FUTURE!
