THROUGH OUR CURBSIDE BOOK PROGRAM, WE DELIVER CHILDREN'S BOOKS TO LOCAL DAY CARES, VOLUNTARY PREKINDERGARTEN EDUCATION PROGRAMS (VPK), AND TITLE I ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS FOR EDUCATORS AND PROVIDERS TO SEND HOME WITH CHILDREN ENROLLED IN THEIR SCHOOL OR AGENCY. THE SERVICE IS INTENDED TO ENCOURAGE AT-HOME READING, AS WELL AS PROVIDE CHILDREN A GREAT BOOK TO READ AT HOME. BOOKS DO NOT HAVE TO BE RETURNED. THEY ARE A PERMANENT KEEPSAKE FOR CHILDREN TO TAKE HOME. IN AN EFFORT TO ENCOURAGE AT-HOME READING, LITERACY MATERIAL ABOUT THE EFFICACY OF PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND READING ON EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING AND SCHOOL READINESS IS PROVIDED IN EACH CHILD'S BOOK DONATION BAG FOR USE BY PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS. IN 2020, 677 BOOKS WERE DELIVERED TO DESERVING CHILDREN IN OUR TARGET SERVICE AREAS SUCH AS WILDWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, WILDWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VOLUNTARY PRE-KINDERGARTEN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM, THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF CENTRAL FLORIDA (LEESBURG, FL), THE CITY OF WINTER PARK RECREATION & FAMILY SERVICES CENTER, MUSE FAMILY DAYCARE, AND HARLEY'S ANGELS CHILD CARE CENTER.
