THE FLYING DOG FOUNDATION HELPS MAKE PROFOUNDLY POSITIVE, LIFE-SAVING CHANGES IN THE LIVES OF DOGS IN DIRE SITUATIONS BY AWARDING GRANTS TO PARTNER RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS. THE PRIMARY FOCUS IS ON, THOUGH NOT LIMITED TO, DOGS RESCUED FROM THE MEAT TRADE AND HUNTING DOGS.

IN 2023, FLYING DOG FOUNDATION AWARDED A TOTAL OF $86,168.08 IN GRANTS TO RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS THAT SAVED THE LIVES OF DOGS IN DIRE NEED. IN 2023, WE RAISED A TOTAL OF $94,327.93. OUR TOTAL EXPENSES IN 2023 WERE $22,526.04, WHICH WENT TOWARD THINGS LIKE BANKING FEES, SHIPPING, AND WEBSITE COSTS. WE ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION. WE'RE PROUD TO HAVE FUNDED GRANTS THAT MADE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN DOGS' LIVES AND THE LIVES OF THOSE WHO ADOPTED THEM. (1) IN 2023, WE HELPED TWO ORGANIZATIONS FOCUSED ON HELPING DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS IN UKRAINE, WHERE ANIMAL RESCUE NEEDS HAVE ESCALATED DUE TO THE WAR. WE GRANTED A TOTAL OF $10,600 TO NATIONAL BORZOI RESCUE FOUNDATION, AN AMERICAN 501(C)(3), DIRECTED TO THEIR PROGRAM FOR RELIEF OF BORZOI IN UKRAINE UNDER THEIR PROTECTION. WE AWARDED TOTAL GRANTS OF $4,100 TO SHELTER UGOLYOK IN LVIV, UKRAINE, TO HELP OFFSET THEIR EXPENSES FOR THE RESCUE, INTAKE, AND CARE FOR DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS UNDER THEIR PROTECTION.(2) ANOTHER SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCE IN 2023 WAS IN RESPONSE TO WILDFIRES IN MAUI, HI, USA. THE DEVASTATING FIRES RENDED MANY PEOPLE AND THEIR ANIMALS HOMELESS AND SOME ANIMALS WHO'S HUMAN CARETAKERS WERE KILLED OR UNABLE TO CARE FOR THEM. IN RESPONSE, WE AWARDED GRANTS TO HAWAII ANIMAL RESCUE FOUNDATION, A 501(C)(3) SHELTER BASED IN MAUI, OF $2525. THEY TOOK IN HOMELESS ANIMALS AND GOT THOSE IN NEED OF IT VETERINARY CARE FOR INJURIES SUSTAINED IN THE FIRES. (3) IN 2023, WE AWARDED GRANTS TOTALING $18,137.22 TO CANDY'S HOUND RESCUE INTERNATIONAL, A REGISTERED CHARITY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM. THE MONEY WAS DIRECTED TO HELP OFFSET EXPENSES FOR THE CARE AND RESCUE TRANSPORT OF DOGS RESCUED FROM THE MEAT TRADE IN CHINA AND UNDER THEIR PROTECTION. (4)) IN 2023, GRANTS TOTALING $18,153.26 WERE AWARDED TO OUR SHELTER PARTNERS IN SPAIN. EACH IS A REGISTERED CHARITY IN THAT COUNTRY AND HAVE UNDER THEIR PROTECTION DISCARDED HUNTING DOGS THAT EACH HAS RESCUED. THESE INCLUDE GALGOS, PODENCOS, AND MASTINES. THE SPANISH SHELTERS WE SUPPORT ARE GALGOS EN FAMILIA, CASA DE POSTAS, MASTINES EN LA CALLE, ARGOS, PODENCOS Y MAS, AND SIEMPRE CONTIGO. THE DOGS REMAIN UNDER THE SHELTERS' CARE UNTIL THEY ARE ADOPTED TO SAFE, LOVING HOMES. (5) IN 2023, WE AWARDED GRANTS TOTALING $32,225 TO THREE US 501(C)(3) RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS THAT SAVED DOGS FROM IRISH AND AUSTRALIAN RACING AND THE KOREAN AND CHINA MEAT TRADES. THOSE RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS ARE MINNESOTA GREYHOUND RESCUE, MOTORCITY GREYHOUND RESCUE, AND MICHIGAN GREYHOUND CONNECTION. THE GRANTS WERE SPECIFICALLY DIRECTED TO OFFSET RESCUE FLIGHT EXPENSES FORM THE DOGS' COUNTRIES OF ORIGIN TO NORTH AMERICA. ONCE UNDER THE PROTECTION OF THE RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS, THE DOGS WERE ADOPTED TO SAFE, LOVING HOMES. (6) IN 2023, WE AWARDED A $427.60 GRANT TO PET LEVRIERI, A GREYHOUND AND GALGO RESCUE CHARITY BASED AND REGISTERED IN ITALY. THE MONEY WAS DIRECTED TO HELP OFFSET GENERAL EXPENSES RELATED TO THEIR RESCUE WORK.
