WFS ENVISIONS A FLOURISHING SOUTH WHERE WOMXN AND GIRLS OF COLOR ARE HEALTHY, SAFE, AND WELL-RESOURCED TO DETERMINE THEIR OWN DESTINIES AND ENSURE THAT THEY AND THEIR FAMILIES THRIVE. WFS AIMS TO BE A PERMANENT, ENDOWED INSTITUTION THAT SERVES AS A GATEWAY FOR DONORS, FOUNDATIONS, CORPORATIONS, AND INDIVIDUAL INVESTORS TO MAXIMIZE THE SOCIAL IMPACT OF THEIR INVESTMENTS IN WOMXN AND GIRLS OF COLOR IN THE SOUTH. WE VALUE THE BRILLIANCE OF MOTHER WIT, EQUITY JUSTICE, SISTERHOOD, POWER-SHARING, INGENUITY, SELF-DETERMINATION, AND COMMUNITY WISDOM.IN 2022, WFS GREW ITS TEAM AND RAISED MONEY TOWARD REACHING ITS FULL 13-STATE FOCUS AREA ACROSS THE SOUTHERN U.S. ROOTED IN LOUISIANA, WFS EXPANDED ITS SERVICES IN 2022 TO INCLUDE ORGANIZATIONS LED BY WOMEN OF COLOR IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, AS WELL AS THOSE IN LOUISIANA. OUR RADICAL APPROACH TO PHILANTHROPY IS EXEMPLIFIED IN OUR FLAGSHIP PROGRAM, WOC @ REST. THIS PROGRAM, CURATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH JUNEBUG PRODUCTIONS, UNIQUELY CENTERS WOMENLEADERS OF COLOR WHO SERVE ON THE FRONT LINES IN OUR ONGOING FIGHT FOR EQUITY, JUSTICE, HEALING, AND PROSPERITY IN COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE AMERICAN SOUTH. WOC @ REST ADDRESSES THREE ISSUES THAT WOC LEADERS REPORT ARE THEIR GREATEST CHALLENGES:- UNDERFUNDING OF THEIR WORK,- NEED FOR SELF-HEALING AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT, AND- MORE STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS HELP.NONPROFITS LED BY WOMEN OF COLOR, ESPECIALLY BLACK WOMEN, OFTEN MUST MEET A HIGH BAR TO PROVE THEIR "WORTHINESS AND CAPABILITY FOR FUNDING, WHILE BEING OVERLOOKED FOR THEIR KNOWHOW. WOC @ REST OFFERS HARD-WORKING WOMEN OF COLOR LEADERS A NEEDED PAUSE AND TIME TO REST:RESTORE BY PARTICIPATING IN A 2-DAY HEALING RETREAT;ELEVATE THEIR LEADERSHIP WITH A LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND RESTORATION GRANT;SUPPORT THEIR LEADERSHIP THROUGH STATEWIDE AND REGIONAL NETWORK BUILDING;TELL THEIR STORY BY PARTICIPATING IN A RECORDED STORYTELLING EXERCISE THAT HIGHLIGHTS THE REALITY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS, ORGANIZATIONAL AND COMMUNITY NEEDS, INNOVATIVE PRACTICES IN THEIR WORK, AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF HOW THE PHILANTHROPIC ECOSYSTEM CAN HELP.
