WFS ENVISIONS A FLOURISHING SOUTH WHERE WOMXN AND GIRLS OF COLOR ARE HEALTHY, SAFE, AND WELL-RESOURCED TO DETERMINE THEIR OWN DESTINIES AND ENSURE THAT THEY AND THEIR FAMILIES THRIVE. WFS AIMS TO BE A PERMANENT, ENDOWED INSTITUTION THAT SERVES AS A GATEWAY FOR DONORS, FOUNDATIONS, CORPORATIONS, AND INDIVIDUAL INVESTORS TO MAXIMIZE THE SOCIAL IMPACT OF THEIR INVESTMENTS IN WOMXN AND GIRLS OF COLOR IN THE SOUTH. WE VALUE THE BRILLIANCE OF MOTHER WIT, EQUITY JUSTICE, SISTERHOOD, POWER-SHARING, INGENUITY, SELF-DETERMINATION, AND COMMUNITY WISDOM.WFS LAUNCHED ITS FLAGSHIP RESTORATIVE POWER PROGRAM WOMEN OF COLOR AT REST (WOC @ REST) IN DECEMBER 2021, SUPPORTING TWENTY-EIGHT WOMEN OF COLOR NONPROFIT LEADERS WHO HAVE BEEN PROVIDING CRITICAL SUPPORT TO FAMILIES AND MARGINALIZED GROUPS IN LOUISIANA IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 AND IN THE AFTERMATH OF HURRICANE IDA. WFS BROUGHT THE WOMEN OF COLOR LEADERS TOGETHER FOR A 2-DAY RETREAT AND LISTENING SESSION. ATTENDEES CAME TOGETHER TO SHARE, GRIEVE, REST, AND CELEBRATE THE PROMISE AND INGENUITY OF WOMEN OF COLOR AS THE BACKBONE OF NONPROFIT RESTORATION LEADERSHIP IN MANY COMMUNITIES OF COLOR THROUGHOUT LOUISIANA. EACH LEADER'S ORGANIZATION ALSO RECEIVED A LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000.
