IT IS THE MISSION, DUTY AND PURPOSE OF THE MILES HALL FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT FAMILIES WHO HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER(S) STRUGGLING WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS.

FAMILY SUPPORTTHE FOUNDATION WILL HELP EDUCATE FAMILIES ON AVAILABLE RESOURCES AND CONNECT THEM WITH THE BEST SERVICES TO MEET THEIR NEEDS. IF THE RESOURCES ARE NOT FREE OR COVERED BY THE FAMILYS INSURANCE THE FOUNDATION WILL HELP FILL THAT VOID.THE ACTIVITIES OF THE FOUNDATION WILL BE PRIMARILY FOCUSED IN CONTRA COSTA AND ALAMEDA COUNTIES IN CALIFORNIA. HOWEVER, AS THE FOUNDATION GROWS WE WILL EXPAND TO OTHER COMMUNITIES IN CALIFORNIA. 24-HOUR NON-POLICE RESPONSEWHEN POLICE ARE CALLED TO ASSIST SOMEONE IN A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS TOO OFTEN THE OUTCOME IS DEADLY FOR THE PERSON IN CRISIS. THUS, ITS IMPERATIVE THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE TO CALLING THE POLICE WHEN SOMEONE IS IN A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THAT THESE DEATHS ARE GREATLY REDUCED OR ELIMINATED WHEN A NON-POLICE RESPONSE ALTERNATIVE IS IN PLACE.THE ACTIVITIES OF THE FOUNDATION WILL BE PRIMARILY FOCUSED IN CONTRA COSTA AND ALAMEDA COUNTIES IN CALIFORNIA. HOWEVER, AS THE FOUNDATION GROWS WE WILL EXPAND TO OTHER COMMUNITIES IN CALIFORNIA. EDUCATIONTHE STIGMAS ASSOCIATED WITH MENTAL HEALTH ARE MAJOR HURDLES THAT NEED TO BE OVERCOME IN ORDER FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT MENTAL HEALTH IS AN ISSUE WITH NO BOUNDARIES. MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES IMPACT THE ENTIRE POPULATION REGARDLESS OF RACE, RELIGION OR SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND AND REALIZE THERE IS A NEED FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IN EVERY COMMUNITY. IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE STIGMAS ASSOCIATED WITH MENTAL ILLNESS WE MUST FIRST ADDRESS THE IMPLICIT BIAS THAT IS PERVASIVE IN OUR COUNTRY. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL THE FOUNDATION WILL OFFER AND FACILITATE IMPLICIT BIAS TRAINING PROGRAMS.THE ACTIVITIES OF THE FOUNDATION WILL BE PRIMARILY FOCUSED IN CONTRA COSTA AND ALAMEDA COUNTIES IN CALIFORNIA. HOWEVER, AS THE FOUNDATION GROWS WE WILL EXPAND TO OTHER COMMUNITIES IN CALIFORNIA.
