THE SPACE PROVIDES INDIVIDUALIZED ACADEMIC SUPPORT SO THAT ALL STUDENTS CAN OVERCOME BARRIERS, DISCOVER THEIR LEARNING POWER AND ACCESS AN EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION. WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY STUDENT HAS UNIQUE STRENGTHS AND DESERVES THE SAME INVESTMENT OF TIME, CARE AND ATTENTION REGARDLESS OF ABILITY TO PAY OR PERCEIVED POTENTIAL.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE FORWARD LEARNING SCHOLARS (FLS) PROGRAM PROVIDES MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH A HEALTHY, SAFE AFTER SCHOOL ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT WHERE STUDENTS CAN LEARN TO IDENTIFY AND OVERCOME BARRIERS TO ACADEMIC SUCCESS. STUDENTS ARE REFERRED BY COMMUNITY PARTNERS WITH 29 STUDENTS PARTICIPATING 2 DAYS PER WEEK IN THIS ENGAGING AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. FLS FOSTERS CONSISTENT, POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN STAFF AND PEERS, ALLOWING STUDENTS TO DEVELOP A SENSE OF BELONGING AND ACADEMIC WELL-BEING. 5 STUDENTS GRADUATED FROM THE PROGRAM PREPARED FOR TO MORE CONFIDENTLY ADVOCATE FOR THEIR LEARNING NEEDS.


GENERAL PROGRAM


THE INDIVIDUAL TUTORING AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT PROGRAM HAS HELPED 221 STUDENTS MAKE PROGRESS IN ACCOMPLISHING THEIR LEARNING GOALS. STUDENTS IN GRADES 6-12 WORK ON SCHOOLWORK, COLLEGE APPLICATIONS, AND TEST PREP WITH EXPERT LEARNING GUIDES SO THEY CAN NAVIGATE THEIR EDUCATION WITH CONFIDENCE. STUDENTS REPORT IMPROVED CLASS PERFORMANCE AND PARTICIPATION AFTER WORKING WITH THE TEAM AT THE SPACE. 96% OF PARENTS SURVEYED REPORT THAT THEIR STUDENTS ACHIEVED THEIR GOALS.


SUMMER PROGRAM - THROUGH THE SUMMER PROGRAM 126 STUDENTS HAVE FOUND NEW PASSIONS IN SCIENCE AND GAINED CONFIDENCE IN MATH, READING, AND WRITING. IN THE BILINGUAL SCHOLARS CAMP, TWELVE EMERGING BILINGUAL STUDENTS PRACTICED SPEAKING, READING, AND WRITING IN ENGLISH SO THEY COULD RETURN TO SCHOOL CONFIDENT AND PREPARED. IN ADDITION TO THE CAMPS AT THE SPACE, WE COLLABORATED WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO PROVIDE SUMMER ENRICHMENT THAT ENGAGED 67 STUDENTS THROUGH FIELD TRIPS, STEM ACTIVITIES AT THE PUBLIC LIBRARIES AND CAMPING TRIPS WITH PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS.
