THROUGH THE HALO FOOD PROJECT, OVER 26,000 POUNDS OF LOCALLY GROWN PRODUCE ARE DISTRIBUTED ANNUALLY, EMPOWERING FAMILIES WITH FRESH AND NUTRITIOUS FOOD. THE YARD 2 FARM INITIATIVE EQUIPS RESIDENTS WITH URBAN FARMING SKILLS, ENGAGING OVER 5,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS YEARLY TO LEAD SUSTAINABLE LIVES. EVCLEAN15 EDUCATES ON CLEAN TRANSPORTATION, REDUCING AIR POLLUTION, AND INCREASING COMMUNITY MOBILITY. THE HALO FOOD PROJECT IS A CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY FOOD PROGRAM BY THE NILES FOUNDATION AIMED AT ADDRESSING FOOD INSECURITY AND PROMOTING ACCESS TO FRESH AND NUTRITIOUS FOOD FOR LOW-INCOME AND DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES. THROUGH THE HALO FOOD PROJECT, THE NILES FOUNDATION ESTABLISHES FOOD DISTRIBUTION CENTERS, COMMUNITY GARDENS, AND EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES TO EMPOWER RESIDENTS TO GROW THEIR OWN FOOD AND MAKE HEALTHIER DIETARY CHOICES. THIS PROGRAM NOT ONLY PROVIDES IMMEDIATE RELIEF BY DISTRIBUTING FOOD BUT ALSO FOCUSES ON LONG-TERM SOLUTIONS BY FOSTERING SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND FOOD SOVEREIGNTY WITHIN COMMUNITIES.
EVCLEAN15 IS AN EDUCATIONAL AND OUTREACH PROGRAM SPEARHEADED BY THE NILES FOUNDATION TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT CLEAN TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES AND REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS (GHG) EMISSIONS IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES. BY PROMOTING THE ADOPTION OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, BIKING, AND WALKING, EVCLEAN15 AIMS TO MITIGATE THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF TRANSPORTATION ACTIVITIES AND IMPROVE AIR QUALITY IN URBAN AREAS. THROUGH COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS, INFORMATIONAL CAMPAIGNS, AND ADVOCACY EFFORTS, THIS PROGRAM EMPOWERS RESIDENTS TO MAKE SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION CHOICES THAT BENEFIT BOTH THEIR HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
