TO PROVIDE COMPASSIONATE SERVICE TO FAMILIES THROUGH ADOPTION AND PROVIDE STABILITY AND PERMANENCY FOR INFANTS AND CHILDREN.

ADOPTION GUARDIANSHIP HOME STUDIES FOR RESOURCE FAMILIES (AGHSRF) - ALASKA ADOPTION SERVICES WAS AWARDED THIS GRANT THROUGH THE STATE OF ALASKA OFFICE OF CHILDREN SERVICES. AAS RECEIVES HOME STUDY REFERRALS FOR ALL CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE WHO ARE IN THE PROCESS OF ADOPTION OR GUARDIANSHIP WITH THEIR FOSTER PARENTS/KINSHIP PLACEMENT. THE HOME STUDY WILL ACCESS THE FAMILIES ABILITIES TO MEET THE CHILD NEEDS, TO ASSURE SAFETY OF THE CHILD AND TO HELP WITH PERMANENCY AND WELL-BEING OF THE CHILD IN THE CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM. THE ASSESSMENT EVALUATES A FAMILIES HEALTH, FINANCES, BACKGROUNDS, AND ABILITY TO PARENT A CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS OR TRAUMA HISTORY. IT IS A REQUIRED ASSESSMENT FOR A CHILD TO BE ADOPTED IN ALASKA.

INFANT PLACEMENT - ALASKA ADOPTION SERVICES MATCHES PROSPECTIVE ADOPTIVE FAMILIES WITH EXPECTANT PARENTS TO SAFELY PLACE INFANTS IN THEIR FOREVER FAMILIES. WE WORK TO ENSURE EXPECTANT PARENTS ARE PROVIDED WITH EDUCATION, SUPPORT, COMPASSION AND EMPATHY AS THEY CHOOSE WHETHER TO PARENT OR MAKE AN ADOPTION PLAN. WE HELP ADOPTIVE FAMILIES NAVIGATE THROUGH THE STEPS OF ADOPTION INCLUDING THE EMOTIONS, EDUCATION, AND LEGALITIES OF THE PROCESS.


COMMUNITY DIAPER PANTRY - ALASKA ADOPTION SERVICES SAW THE NECESSITY IN THE COMMUNITY TO PROVIDE DIAPERS FREE-OF-CHARGE TO FAMILIES IN NEED. THE PANTRY IS OPEN ONE DAY A WEEK AND PROVIDES 50 DIAPERS AND ONE PACKAGE OF WIPES PER FAMILY.
