IN 2023, KJEC HOSTED TWO MAJOR PROGRAMS. THE INSTITUTE FEATURED FOUR ONLINE WORKSHOPS AND A 12-DAY IN-PERSON SESSION IN HAWAII, FUNDED BY THE US EMBASSY IN SEOUL. IT BROUGHT 20 UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FROM SOUTH KOREA AND JAPAN TO LEARN LEADERSHIP AND CROSS-CULTURAL SKILLS. PARTNERING WITH THE EAST-WEST CENTER AND THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT MANOA, THE PROGRAM FOCUSED ON THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY, CULMINATING IN COMMUNITY PROJECTS LIKE CULTURAL EXCHANGE EVENTS, TUTORING, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUPS. PARTICIPANTS BUILT NEW CONNECTIONS AND CHALLENGED STEREOTYPES.SIMULTANEOUSLY, KJEC RAN THE EXPERIENCE, A 10-DAY PROGRAM IN JAPAN AND SOUTH KOREA FOR 24 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, FUNDED BY A US EMBASSY GRANT. THE PROGRAM EMPHASIZED ENGLISH SKILLS, LEADERSHIP, AND CROSS-CULTURAL EXCHANGE UNDER THE THEME GLOBAL CITIZENS ARE INFORMED CITIZENS. IT ALSO PROVIDED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR 8 VOLUNTEER TEACHERS FROM SOUTH KOREA, JAPAN, AND THE UNITED STATES.2023 MARKED KJEC'S FIRST YEAR HOSTING TWO CONCURRENT PROGRAMS, REFLECTING ITS GROWTH. ADDITIONALLY, KJEC LAUNCHED ALUMNI OUTREACH, CONDUCTING INTERVIEWS AND ONLINE MEETUPS TO CONNECT WITH FORMER PARTICIPANTS AND ASSESS THE PROGRAM'S IMPACT, REINFORCING ITS COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY AND SUSTAINABLE LEARNING.
